Strategic Pursuit Coordinators are specialists in planning, organizing, managing and producing targeted marketing efforts and communication for various teams and projects, including creating informational products to support these efforts.

Primary Responsibilities

**Approximately 60% travel is required**

The Strategic Pursuit Team's primary goal is to proactively work with teams on large or strategic pursuit opportunities to gain market share and to elevate HDR's stature in the industry. A pursuit refers to a tailored marketing effort that aims at winning new business or maintaining existing client relationships for the Water, Transportation, Federal and Resources business groups.

The Strategic Pursuit Proposal Manager will support the pursuit leader and team members with production coordination of proposals, presentations and other marketing collateral. The Strategic Pursuit Proposal Manager manages communication, scheduling, quality and compliance for the pursuit team.


This person will also be responsible for managing the capture plan document, document cataloguing, managing individual and team's deadlines, mentoring, training, and event planning. Tasks also include writing, editing, note taking, informational research, ability to learn basic technical engineering concepts, development of graphics concepts and coordination of other team members. Must have strong communication skills, capability of working with multi-disciplinary teams and ability to motivate others. Position requires up to 60% travel. The Strategic Pursuit Proposal Manager reports to the Strategic Pursuits Section Manager.


Job Responsibilities

Leadership Responsibilities

• Lead HDR's strategic Integrated Delivery pursuits

• Lead HDR's strategic International pursuits; coordinate with International Marketing Directors to identify ways for SPT to support HDR's growth internationally

• Lead Visualization tasks; support production of pursuit visuals; coordinate with internal and external visualization managers; analyze new presentation and visualization technologies and find applications for pursuits

• Lead proposal quality efforts; review proposals and presentations; and participate in reviews as needed

• Ability to elevate the standard practices of the SPT

• Meeting facilitation for SPT and pursuit teams

• In-depth understanding of HDR's marketing philosophies

• Ability to facilitate HDR's marketing trainings

• In-depth understanding of HDR's annual and 5-year plans and responsibility to create and implement parallel SPT plans

• Partner with the business groups and pursuit leaders; participate in business group initiatives as needed

• Act as a partner and liaison with the Creative Studio team and the Program Services team

• Document and promote Best Practices for SPT

• Monitor and encourage the success of SPT initiatives

• Mentor and train new staff to provide support for pursuits and pursuit leaders, and encourage continuous learning for SPT

• Lead pursuits independently in a dual leader/coordinator role as needed

• Support SPT's proposal production when needed by supporting team members with printing and delivery, and acting as liaison to ARC Document Solutions

• Stay actively involved with APMP and SMPS and attend conferences as needed

• Support section manager with workload related tasks during section manager's PTO or unusual workload situations; assemble resources and provide support to SPT as needed

Other Responsibilities

• Develops tracking documents to keep SOQs and Proposals organized

• Manages all SOQ and Proposal assembly and production efforts

• Manages all SOQ and Proposal edits with layout staff

• Manages graphic design efforts for SOQ, Proposal and Presentation with graphic design staff

• Participates in blue, red and fatal flaw reviews

• Reviews requests for information, qualifications and proposals (RFIs, RFQs, RFPs)

• Manages production of SOQs and Proposals

• Manages pursuit schedules

• Creates outlines for SOQs and Proposals

• Manages compliance matrices and adherence to evaluation criteria

• Manages resources in the areas of writing, editing, illustrating, desktop publishing, technical editing, quality control and print reproduction

• Reviews draft and final versions of SOQs and Proposals for responsiveness to RFI/RFQ/RFP, thoroughness, accuracy, staffing, financial considerations, quality and effective design and layout

• Suggests management-level reviews and approvals of SOQs and proposals

• Participates in debrief and lessons learned meetings

• Travel required


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Journalism, Communications or Related

• Experience in Lieu of Education Is Acceptable

• An MBA Is a Plus

• 10+ Years of Professional Experience within the A/E/C Industry or similar field

• Experience managing large, complex proposals, including coordinating, leading and managing the pursuit process

• Ability to work on complex and multi-part projects independently

• Experience producing proposals within the A/E/C industry

• Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams

• Excellent problem solving, time management, organizational and project management skills

• Ability to develop protocols, processes and systems and contribute to improving the efficiency of the business and team

• Demonstrated leadership experience in leading, mentoring and engaging a diverse team of marketing, communications and graphic design professionals

• Superior interpersonal and negotiating skills with a "customer service" focus

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Understanding of graphic design and document layout principles

• Mastery of strategic marketing communication concepts

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Adobe InDesign and Acrobat Pro

• Approximately 60% travel required
