Key Responsibilities:

Safety:

-Supports safety efforts in the maintenance department; participate in programs and systems to promote a safety culture at the site

-Determine and manage safety considerations of jobs to be done during planned outages, in partnership Steelmaking operations

Support Steelmaking's quality efforts:

-In alignment with the Supply Chain, site, and divisional quality goals

-ISO 9001 & 50001 improvement efforts

-Supervises Mechanical & Electrical Planners

-Develops, implements, and improves maintenance planning systems and resources in support of weekly, down day and outage execution and best practices.

Efforts include:

-Communicating with operations to effectively schedule and coordinate maintenance jobs for planned outages, in coordination with the Maintenance Planners

-Informing the Maintenance Manager of key maintenance and business activities to ensure that resourcing and production requirements are met in a timely manner

-Assisting with management of the overflow of routine maintenance work orders

-Maintain, audit and improve maintenance processes to lower costs and to improve equipment performance and reliability and personnel safety


Supports equipment, parts and etc. cost control via:

-Participating in cross functional cost reduction activities for plant-managed purchases

-Approving recommended parts lists for Assigned Planners

-Ensure critical spare inventories are available across Steelmaking including the oversight of the repairable process (920s)

-Estimate costs of personnel, parts, and supplies to be used during scheduled maintenance

-Takes advantage of planned equipment down time to capture BOM for the equipment that is taken apart or cannot be captured while in operation

Partners with:

-Steelmaking Maintenance / Operations, Engineering and MS&U leadership to implement manpower strategies that meet the business needs

-Functional leadership to establish financial and manpower forecasting tools to optimize site costs and reliability

-Capital projects on asset delivery (Capital deployment) requirements (Spares lists, PM procedures, equipment master data set-up)

Interacts with:

-Contractors on availability, skills and cost, establishing multiple qualified options for needed skills

-Equipment suppliers, establishing multiple qualified options for supplying or supplementing equipment

-Manages Maintenance Outages across the Steelmaking site

-Management of work load

 Manage Planned Outage backlog in Oracle

 Determine list of jobs to be executed at each outage

 Support the progression to greater proactive and preventive maintenance by ensuring that outage plans incorporate PMs, inspections, and aging outage work at the appropriate level

 Partner with Engineering organization to integrate capital engineering work into the overall site planned outage plan

-Management of Work Execution

 Consistent planned outage process execution across Steelmaking, to include regular meetings gearing up to the outage to align the operating units around jobs to be done and definition of outage success

 Develop and assist in the coordination of detailed planned outage plans to safely complete required/desired outage jobs at a high level of quality and at the maximum efficiency, meeting a predicted cost

 Facilitate Planned Outage Critical Path in partnership with operations as well as procure materials, and prioritize/schedule work to maximize process up-time and minimize material costs and contract services

 Determine level-loading of craftsmen in advance of outages and, as outages progress, across operating units

-Lessons Learned

 Facilitate Outage Lessons Learned following the completion of each planned outage, to include start-up results and KPIs such as Equivalent Forced Outage Rate

 Maintain a Lessons Learned database to develop planned outage and start-up best practices for the site

-Preparation for unplanned opportunities:

 Ensure maintenance Planners have key outage jobs ready to execute, including kitting, in the event of an unplanned downtime opportunity

 Develop outage execution contingency plans to include ensuring lower priority work is ready to execute in the event of schedule changes / opportunities


Be able to use:

-Oracle and maintain master data for plans and materials

-Viziya for query of data from Oracle and develop/update work schedules

-Microsoft Project for outage schedules and projects

Preferred Education / Experience

-B.S. in Engineering and 10 years in plant maintenance

-Five years of planning & scheduling experience managing outage budget of $15+ Million per annum

-Five years supervisory experience

-Strong Oracle, Excel and Microsoft Office computer skills and Work management database
