Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Insights and Discovery, the Data Scientist will act as a domain expert and lead developer on a range of projects and initiatives for Individual Solutions clients. Working with a diverse and motivated team, the Data Scientist will work on the development and implementation of predictive models in a fast-paced operational environment in order provide actionable insights and solutions.The Insights & Discovery team is looking for a team player with a strong quantitative background, a true passion for working with data, and more than 3 years of practical experience from building and implementing predictive models in Python, R, SQL, Java, Matlab, SAS, or equivalent. Flexibility and versatility is key in this role as part of the Data Scientist’s responsibility will be to connect with clients effectively to insure a successful delivery of the analytical recommendations.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Formally applies statistical /scientific rigour to the problems at hand. Ensures their work is thoroughly tested and mathematically sound
  • Ensures that results meet the clients’ needs. Makes suggestions to improve the client’s data driven decision-making with statistical methods
  • Excellent organizational skills to ensure work is documented and transferable
  • Shares the responsibility of effectively presenting analytical results and findings to senior business leaders
  • Responsible for ongoing research and development in a Continuous Improvement environment
  • Continues to maintain awareness of relevant trends in the industry
  • Acts as a technical team lead on projects when required
  • Work with project management leaders by adhering to deadlines and being involved in requirement gathering


  • Minimum of Bachelor degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Econometrics, or equivalent. Graduate degree preferred
  • Demonstrated data transformation & manipulation experience
  • Knowledge of Agile framework
  • Proficient in C++, Java, C#, or Scala
  • Extensive programming experience with Matlab, SAS, R, Python or Julia
  • Five plus years of experience in statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of machine learning methods and big data platforms (Hive, Spark, Hadoop)
  • Experience with analysis of unstructured data.
  • Practical leadership experience on enterprise projects
