Job Description:

Global Services Engineering (GSE), located in East Hartford Connecticut, is looking for a software/methods engineer with a love for web development.

The methods team is responsible for the development, deployment, and support of game-changing repair/maintenance software.

This includes the automation of both technical and business processes that will enable Pratt & Whitney to continually push the state of the art in gas turbine engine repairs and reduce the cost of maintaining our parts, components, and engines.

Qualified candidates will most likely be mechanical engineers who have strong design/programming ability or software engineers who have an inclination towards developing applications to supportmechanical engineers.

Qualified candidates will also need to be very good communicators and team players.

Responsibilities:

  • You will learn and understand the needs of the engineering organization and translate those needs into clear software requirements which will drive the design, development, and testing of high quality software for the engineering organization.
  • This is an opportunity for full stack development and being involved in all stages of the software development process.


Qualification:

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science w/6-10 years’ experience OR MA/MSdegree in Engineering, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science w/4-7 years’ experience OR PhD degree in Engineering, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems or Computer Science w/2-4 years’ experience
  • 4 years of experience in software development
  • 1+ year of experience in Linux
  • 1+ year of experience in ANY of the following: Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML, SQL, CSS
  • US citizenship is required due to government program requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong developer who is comfortable learning new languages, libraries and frameworks
  • Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science dual degrees
  • Cloud and Mobile application experience
  • Experience with Flask, SQLAlchemy, ORMs, interfacing to ERP / MRP / PLM Systems – SAP / Solumina / Teamcenter
  • Interest/experience in Statistical / Data Analytics and/or Manufacturing / Quality processes
