Job Summary:

The Staff Software Engineer expands knowledge and skills in multiple tools, technologies and Calero product areas. The engineer consistently applies and promotes best practices and standard procedures as a member of an agile development team.

Duties and Responsibilities of the job:

  • Continuously expands ability to handle new and more complex programming tasks
  • Competent in programming and debugging across multiple modules and dealing with related external dependencies
  • Writes high-quality code with domain in mind
  • Authors, executes and monitors automated tests
  • Designs and performs manual verification and regression tests
  • Leads some discussions in research, grooming and planning on the team
  • Actively contributes on code and design reviews
  • May pair with Associate Engineers to assist in training


Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.

Experience and Training:

  • 3+ years’ of experience as a software engineer
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good presentation skills

Technical Knowledge:

  • The Staff Software Engineer has a background in:
    • Object oriented programming
    • Functional programming
    • Application development (either web, distributed, Windows or Linux)
    • Unit, system and integration testing
    • Relational databases
    • Business intelligence and analytics platforms
  • Examples of relevant technologies currently used by Calero:
    • C#, C++, Java
    • JavaScript, Python
    • MS .NET Framework
    • PL/SQL, Oracle Application Express (APEX)
    • AMQP (RabbitMQ)
    • NUnit, Mocha
    • MS SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres
    • Qlik

Contact with Others

All levels of management, including C-Level, Business Unit leadership, other internal stakeholders, and team members of the Product Development department.


This position will be exposed to extremely confidential information and discretion is paramount. A confidentiality, non-compete, and non-solicitation agreement will be required.

Management Responsibility

This position is seen as an individual contributor with no direct supervisory responsibilities
