Job Overview

We are seeking a Methods Development Scientist to join our LC/MS Bioanalytical group in Indianapolis.


The Methods Development Scientist will lead a scientific team for the conduct of complex and challenging pharmaceutical research feasibility studies. In this position, you will direct and conduct both fundamental and general application studies in the areas of bioanalytical chemistry. In addition, the Methods Development Scientist will implement new techniques and instrumentation to improve bioanalytical operations; troubleshoot and solve related issues; and assess interest and feasibility of research projects.


Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


• Monitor, evaluate, and reviews the scientific performance of assays

• Authors scientific papers, which are published in peer reviewed journals, and present in scientific meetings

• Performs scientific mentoring activities (e.g.; training study specific techniques, assisting with complex analytical work/problem solving, and presenting technique seminars)

• Contribute to long-range planning and technical policies of the department

• Assists in setting up and performing method development and validation of various analytes in a variety of matrices

• Makes suggestions for modifications in test methods or procedures

• Provides input and participate in project meetings; plans, monitors, and guides project work

• Serve as lead chemist on projects, overseeing a small group of technical staff, with supervision

• Participate in client visits, as needed, to assist in communicating technical information

• Assist in writing reports, methods, protocols, and SOPs


• PhD in chemistry, or equivalent degree, with 2-5 years of LC/MS methods development experience in a bioanalytical facility

• Recognized expert in bioanalytical chemistry

• Highly skilled in conducting research, data interpretation, and report writing

• Proven track record of analytical method development


• Experience and knowledge of analytical instrumentation (eg – HPLC, GC, LC/MS/MS)

• Highly skilled in performing scientific presentation and preparing scientific publications

• Knowledge of laboratory automation software, system software, and Microsoft applications

• Effective oral and written communication skills • Knowledge of regulated analytical environment (GLP preferred)
