Job Description Summary

The Senior Reliability Engineer isresponsible for providiing project teams with ReliabilityEngineering support to ensure reliability targets are achieved according to project plans. The reliability engineer should have a demonstrated broad technical knowledge base in all aspects of reliabilityengineering. The ideal candidate would possess and ASQ CRE and have solidexperience inelectrical,mechanical andsoftwareengineering fundamentals together with medical device manufacturing and FDA/GMPexperience. The candidate will work closely with R&D and will be expected to act as a sole contributor to conduct reliability assessments. The incumbent will be expected to possess the technical skills necessary to effectively challenge design concepts as they pertain to overall reliability.

Job Description

Specfic required skills include:

  • Ability to develop and execute reliability plans, consistent with internal policies, for complex medical diagnostic instruments consisting of electro-mechanical, optical and microfluidic devices
  • Actively participate in design reviews and identify potential desgin reliabilityrisks and work towards their successful mitigation
  • Apply sound engineering judgement towards helping improve subsystem and component reliability
  • Effectively interact with project team on matters pertaining to reliability and have a demonstrated command of reliability theories and practices
  • Perform reliability predictions
  • Develop reliability allocation models
  • Design and implement reliability growth and accelerated life tests
  • Design/develop/debug accelerated life test fixtures (may require electrical, mechanical, and softwareexperience)
  • Plan and lead the FRACAS process
  • Develop reliability protocols and reports
  • Use sound statistical methods for data analysis
  • Experience with Minitab, Microsoft Access and VBA
  • Help drive failure root-cause analysis

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in engineering or related technical field (e.g., physics, materials science, mathematics, etc.)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Reliabilityengineering
  • Minimum 1 yearexperience leading cross-functional teams or managing projects
  • Proficiency in high level programming language (C++/VBA)
  • Well-developed written and oral skills
  • Excellent knowledge of statistical techniques and quality/reliability tools (FMEA, FTA, HALT, RGT, FRACAS, etc.)
  • Proficient in statistical data analysis and experience using commercially available software tools (e.g. Minitab)
  • Ability to rapidly and effectively adapt to changing project needs
  • Demonstrated presentation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft office tools (Excel, Power-point, Access, Word, etc.)
