Located on 14.5 park-like acres, Kahi Mohala's 88-bed facility is Hawaii's only private, freestanding psychiatric hospital. Kahi Mohala provides comprehensive behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and children experiencing problems with psychiatric disorders, anxiety, depression, eating disorders. The buildings and grounds offer a complete residential environment with an emphasis on patient safety and security.


The Staff Psychiatrist provides psychiatric services for the treatment of patients with mental health problems in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting. These services include assessment, treatment, planning, interventions, and documentation of treatment programs.



Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with an M.D. or D.O.; satisfactory completion of an approved psychiatric residency training program; and meets the criteria to sit for the examination for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Is duly licensed to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii and has all necessary narcotics and controlled substances numbers and licenses.


Continuing Education: Must maintain CME credits sufficient for licensure in State of Hawaii.


Experience: Prior work experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric treatment setting as a psychiatrist. Experience with child and adolescent population.


Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of human development, psychiatric diagnosis, and intervention modalities. Knowledge of and adherence to American Psychiatric Association ethical standards. Understanding of varying management techniques, working with budgets, planning and development of health care systems. A solid knowledge of The Joint Commission and the Continuing Quality Improvement concepts and process.


Specials Skills/Equipment: Ability to effectively to work with a wide range of psychiatric treatment problems of patients and their families. Ability to cooperatively work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
