Network Director of Thoracic Surgery - Western Connecticut Health Network - Danbury and Norwalk, CT (50 miles from NYC)
Western Connecticut Medical Group is seeking a full-time Network Director of Thoracic Surgery over its three hospital system, including Danbury, New Milford, and Norwalk Hospitals. This is an excellent leadership opportunity with responsibilities to develop a network wide program for Thoracic Surgical Oncology with backup support from two cardiothoracic surgeons. Danbury and Norwalk Hospitals are 50-60 miles northeast of New York City in scenic Fairfield County, Connecticut.
The ideal candidate will be board certified in thoracic surgery and have a minimum of 7-10 years of experience with previous leadership experience in building a program. This is an employed position with a highly competitive compensation package, including allowances for CMEs and Dues expenses and relocation.
Western Connecticut Health Network includes Norwalk, Danbury, and New Milford Hospitals. Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area residents convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. Norwalk Hospital has 366 beds and is also a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 50,000 ED visits per year. Both Danbury and Norwalk are teaching hospitals, associated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Yale University School of Medicine, and Ross University School of Medicine. New Milford Hospital has 85 beds and about 20,000 ED visits per year.
Western Connecticut Medical Group, also part of the Network, includes 400+ physicians and 140+ advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York with over 70 outpatient practice locations.
Danbury, Connecticut, located in Fairfield County, is about 60 miles northeast of New York City and 60 miles west of Hartford, CT. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the city of Danbury enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of outdoor activities. Danbury is home to Western Connecticut State University as well as a number of historical sites, museums, theaters and art galleries. Surrounded by a number of quaint towns with scenic rolling hills, the area offers a variety of excellent housing and school options. Boston, New York City, New Haven and Hartford are easily accessible via train, car, or bus.
Astride a hill with a commanding view of the Long Island Sound, Norwalk Hospital serves a varied and attractive region of Southern Connecticut. The hospital is just minutes from beautiful places to hike, swim, sail or just walk along the beach. Connecticut Magazine recently named South Norwalk as the "hottest" nightspot between Boston and New York City, with a plethora of theater groups and restaurants to choose from. New York City is easily accessible by car or train.
Required: MD/DO. CT State License, Federal DEA, and CT Controlled Substance Registration. Preferred: Prior leadership experience. Hours: 50 control hours.
