We currently seek a Field Applications Engineer to contribute to our Consumer and Automotive Market Segment team. The FAE will:

  • Identify, define and create optimum solutions to achieve market segment design-ins that utilize the full Bourns product portfolio.
  • Provide comprehensive technical support for customers within the Mid-west and Eastern regions of the US in specific market applications.
  • Facilitate new product development that generates technology-leading product road maps while maximizing the voice of the customer philosophy.
  • Identify opportunities in new and existing applications, pursue leads, visit accounts and ensure that customers are provided with the most current technical information.

The successful candidate will have BSEE, with anMSEEpreferred. A BS in a related field may be acceptable with appropriateelectrical engineeringexperience. A strong background inanalog anddigital electronics and board-level design isrequired. Experience with power magnetic components for automotive applications will be a very strong advantage. Knowledge of the consumer and automotive component market is essential.

This position will be based in our Auburn Hills, Michigan facility, or could be home-based in the greater Chicago area, with an expectation of up to 50% domestic travel and occasional international travel.

Global Technical Marketing Specialist

Our Industrial Marketing Organization is growing, and we need a technically skilled Global Technical Marketing Specialist to define, plan and ensure implementation of product marketing strategies in assigned areas to meet business objectives in agreement with the global markets strategy. Support / oversees marketing activities, the development of new product business cases, and support the Global Sales organization in driving sales and services of respective products. This position will assume accountability and ownership for all products in the industrial markets.

In this position you will also be responsible for:

  • Strategy: Creates, plans and ensures implementation of different geographical areas go to market product marketing strategy including definition and communication of product value propositions and product positioning in accordance with the global product marketing strategy.
  • Targets: Establishes strategic account targets in conjunction with the sale organization. Ensures achievement through regular oversight, definition and implementation of improvement plans as needed.
  • Business Planning: Develops and implements annual marketing plans in conjunction with the global market director and product line managers. Prepares business plans focused on business development for a defined market.
  • Market Analysis: Collects, evaluates and shares customer research, market conditions and competitive data.
  • Sales: Oversees sales execution for assigned products by coordinating the preparation of relevant materials and guidance to Sales teams.
  • Product Management: Collaborates with the world-wide product and market organizations to develop business cases for the implementation of new product ideas.
  • Data Governance: Works with IT and data teams to create POS and CRMreports.
  • Training: Drives sales efficiency by ensuring appropriate product knowledge (technical and sales) for each Sales person. Focus on knowledge transfer of key products and customer value by application. Promotes sharing and cross-collaboration.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University or College in Electrical Engineering.
  • MBApreferred.
  • At least, 3 years' experience working in sales/marketing/product marketing or relevant industry.
  • High level verbal skills required to communicate instruction and present ideas, concepts and solutions.
  • Excellent written skills required to issue instructions and present ideas, concepts and solutions.

Staff Field Applications Engineer

Bourns, Inc., a leading global supplier of reliable, high quality electronic components and solutions for over sixty-five years, seeks a Staff Field Applications Engineer for our Western Region Industrial Market. In this role, you will provide comprehensive technical support for customer circuit and system designs in specific market applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identify, define, and create optimum solutions to achieve market segment design-ins that utilize the full Bourns product portfolio.
  • Own technical responsibility for design-in from identification of technical application to qualification and production of the technical solution.
  • Provide comprehensive technical support for customers within the Western regions of the US in specific market applications.
  • Facilitate new product development that generates technology-leading product roadmaps while maximizing the voice of the customer philosophy.
  • In conjunction with Bourns Sales Team, drive total solution promotion towards maximizing company product content by identifying opportunities in new and existing applications, following up on leads, visiting accounts, and ensuring that customers have the most up-to date technical information.
  • Apply technical acumen and understanding of component interaction to provide the best solution recommendation in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of technology and market trends in the field and make recommendations to product and market management to capitalize on opportunities.

Qualifications Needed:
The successful candidate will have a BSEE, with an MSEE preferred. A BS in a related field may be acceptable with appropriate electrical engineering experience. Requires a broad knowledge of design and applications and have at least 8 years of experience in the semiconductor, passive or electromechanical industries. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of customers and management.
