NGIS is currently seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our team at our facility in Princess Anne, MD,on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop program documentation and presentation products
  • Conduct technology assessments, make recommendations for technology insertions, perform trade study assessments and recommendations, support all mission life cycle reviews, and review deliverables
  • Provide technical consultation advice to mission managers regarding design issues, development and test approaches, and test result assessments
  • Lead teams established by the program manager or operations to conduct investigations of programmatic or task level problems and make recommendations for recovery plans
  • Provide recommendations regarding Mission Assurance Program Implementation considerations
  • Provide expertise in space and/or ground hardware and/or software systems analysis, design, development, integration, test, and validation operations
  • Manage SRT Risk Management Process with reporting to the customers and program
  • Perform preliminary / original design and analysis
  • Perform anomaly resolution and or special studies
  • Provide technical expertise across all disciplines
  • Coordinate execution of all design, fabrication, test, and field operations. Establish and ensure adherence to launch procedures to meet mission success
  • Coordinate functional analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies totranslate customer requirements into hardware specifications
  • Manage all assigned mission projects and maintain the project schedule
  • Compile and ensure that all mission and contract deliverables are correct, delivered on time, and ensure accuracy for all assigned mission projects
  • Develop Mission Requirements Matrix including stated, implied, and derived requirements from the customer
  • Perform Mission Risk Assessment and compile / coordinate mitigation plans to minimize mission risk. Ensure that the mitigation plans are adequately completed to minimize risk
  • Perform Interface Control to ensure that all applicable payload and launch vehicles interfaces are adequately assessed to verify that the flight and GSE systems, subsystems, and components usage outside the flight experience envelope is identified and adequately assessed
  • Ensure logical and systematic conversion of customer requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraint
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required
  • Must have excellent customer communication, interaction, and presentation skills

Training and Certifications in the following may be required:

  • ISO-9001 training
  • General Safety Awareness, IT Security, Environmental Compliance, and Personnel Safety and Health


Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science

Preferred Qualifications:

  • · Background in NASA and/or DOD launch vehicles and/or satellite systems and experience with designing / assessing / evaluating components, subsystems and major systems; development and test of components, subsystems, and systems
  • · Knowledge of industry safety and mission assurance requirements.
  • · Knowledge of rocket launch operations.
  • · Understanding of electronics and mechanical component acceptance requirements, component and vehicle assembly procedures, vehicle inspection requirements, and safety procedures and practices as they applyto suborbital rockets
  • · Quality Assurance / Quality Control management ability
  • · Experience with systems safety engineering involving systems and facility safety engineering analyses and risk assessments in systems/facility engineering or systems safety engineering with emphasis on safety analysis
