DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Functions in a staff role to provide professional analytical, administrative and/or management systems services to Small Business Development Group. Compiles data, produces information and interprets results through conclusion or recommendation formulation. Develops reports, special documents or publications as assigned. Coordinates section financial operations, including budget planning, integration and oversight, project cost analysis, expenditure control and accounting procedures. Designs and implements strategies for monitoring of the S/MWBE program activities to include working with various divisions within the department to affect program compliance. Performs professional analytical evaluation and makes recommendations on the department's implementation of the executive Order 1-7, "City Contractor's Pay or Play Program". Participates in the development of management and administrative policies and procedures manual, as well as reviews contracts and agreements, both short and long-term objectives.
Position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking standing, etc.
This is a Department of Public Works & Engineering Emergency Management position at the Tier 3 Level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field. Graduate degrees related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three years of professional administration, financial or analytical experience is required. Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
A valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
