Sr Underwriter, ABL & Dealer Finance - Philadelphia, PA or Denver, Colo.
Responsible for conducting the analysis, creating the approval package and recommending approval for all credit proposals received for Dealer Finance Commercial Services. Supports Relationship Manager (RM)/Business Development Officer (BDO) in developing a "trusted advisor" relationship based upon knowledgeable advice that is aligned to the client's' or prospect's' business or industry. Partnering with RM/BDO, meets with clients on financing and/or financial modeling. Recommends appropriate structure for credit product(s).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Conducts the analysis and underwriting of all new business transactions. Proposes recommended structure and accumulates all data necessary to perform focused analysis.
Participates on site visits and actively involved in discussions with CFO and client senior management.
Assists in coordinating and reviewing third party collateral and field exam reports.
Coordinates call planning activities and prepares customized client proposals/commitment letters and correspondence as needed.
Ensures an efficient and effective transfer of knowledge from the RM/BDO to the Portfolio Manager.
Reviews financial statements and all other relevant financial and non-financial data to develop a concise focused analytical foundation for a credit decision.
Provides value-added feedback through the use of risk/mitigant analysis.
Ensures underwriting and structuring decisions reflecting commitment to strong asset quality.
Projects client's/prospect's profitability through detailed financial projections incorporating financial and nonfinancial issues.
Practices disciplined use of the technology, tools and procedures.
Assists RM/BDO in development of marketing presentations and pitch books; highlighting product solutions for client needs.
Assists Portfolio Manager with credit transactions; client follow-up for covenant violations; financial statement submission; maturity date renewals; past due reporting, etc.
Proactively engages with deal teams to recommend solutions, generate ideas, address arising issues and/ or anticipate problems.
Regularly attend and periodically contribute to debt capital market calls, follow market activity and trends including trends within and outside of asset based lending markets, and deliver actionable advice to deal structurers/BDO.
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field
Outstanding credit skills, analytical skills, and financial acumen
Possess good knowledge of bank products and markets including ABL, securitizations, intuitional debt, public and private bonds, etc.
Proven understanding of the importance of balancing business development and asset quality.
Individuals in this position will likely have worked in both relationship management and credit teams
