Job Description

Provides engineering and engineering support services to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity associated with the design of and test of highly complex optical sensing spaceflight hardware. Utilizes basic technical standards, principles, theories and concepts to develop test plans and procedures. Supports preparation of the test environment and is a contributor to Test Readiness Reviews.  Executes test procedures, documents results, generates paper test reports and creates/manages electronic test data. Reviews and validates test data. Work is closely supervised. Follows established procedures and specific, detailed instructions and/or guidance from more senior functional staff. Interacts with otherengineering groups to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for space-bound products, systems, components, or modifications. Testing can be related to electrical, radiometric or optical performance in ambient, vibration, thermal, vacuum, or EMI environments.  Ultimately delivers thoroughly tested aerospace products, equipment and systems with supporting documentation to the customer (internal and external) complying with specifications and production requirements.  

 Required Experience:

B.S. degree in ElectricalEngineering with 10+ years of experience 

Desired Experience

  • M.S. degree or internship in related areas
  • Experience Testing Radiometric Performance of Visible Sensors
  • Ability to execute procedures, document results, communicate effectively orally and in writing.  Able to generate technical reports, data reduction for requirement verification
  • Proficient with MS office (word, excel, power point)
  • Able to prepare and present technical information with confidence to a technical audience made up of customers, peers, and subject matter experts.
  • Working knowledge of standard electrical test equipment (DVM’s, Scopes, etc)
  • Willing to work overtime, shift work (nights) or extended shifts, weekends and holidays as needed
  • Willing and able to work in a clean room environment, full clean room suit with full face mask
  • Willing to travel, up to 10% of time
  • Familiar with Microsoft VISIO
  • Basic software knowledge (Labview, C++, and scriptinglanguages like Perl)
  • Has mechanical aptitude
  • Experience in aspects of system verification, including testing and evaluating electronics assemblies/subassemblies
  • Troubleshooting along with root cause corrective action experience
  • Configures and verifies standard and special test equipment to be used in Qualification and Acceptance Testing
  • Experience in producing thoroughly evaluated test articles, safely and with complete and accurate test documentation
  • Recognizes, recommends, and implements improvement opportunities for better personal safety, equipment safety, cost savings and production savings
