The SPS Tax Director is responsible for initiating and implementing tax planning, monitoring industry issues, and analyzing legislative proposals to maximize global tax savings opportunities and contribute to shareholder value while fulfilling tax payment and reporting obligations.
The SPS Tax Director also participates in developing tax controversy strategies and advocating the Company's position in tax examinations. Compliance-related activities involve preparing forecasts, evaluating the tax effect and implications of business strategies and proposals, and leading SPS's accounting for income taxes, Sarbanes-Oxley, and transfer pricing processes. The SPS Tax Director is the business tax point of contact and leads a staff of tax professionals.
The SPS Tax Director is a member of Honeywell's Tax Leadership Council.
Planning – Partner with business units to proactively identify and research tax planning opportunities. Implement structural and non-structural tax planning strategies, which maximize savings on a defensible basis. Work with businesses to develop and implement tax efficient transfer pricing policies. Interact with business, tax, and other individuals to ensure proper implementation of all tax planning projects. Lead negotiations with tax authorities on incentives, including existing EMEA rulings involving other Honeywell Strategic Business Groups that share SPS legal entities.
Financial Reporting – Evaluate financial statement treatment and disclosures for taxes. Participate in the Company's accounting for income taxes process, particularly deferred tax computations, and Sarbanes-Oxley process.
Business/Transactional Activities – Manage and participate in reviews of ongoing business activities and proposed transactions to properly advise management of tax consequences and opportunities, with emphasis on tax efficiency and compliance with legal requirements.
Tax Audits and Controversies – Support and partner with Company personnel to successfully defend filing positions and to negotiate favorable resolutions of proposed deficiencies. Facilitate activities of outside advisers engaged to assist in tax controversy matters.
Compliance – Assist in identifying, researching and evaluating alternative tax positions in order to determine a supportable, cost effective filing position. Review the work papers and reporting position in the income tax returns for specific transactions. Assist in obtaining necessary information and documentation for use with tax returns, tax planning, and cash tax forecasts and work with the business to improve tax data collection processes.
Leadership and Teamwork – Provide a single point of contact for SPS tax matters. Lead, mentor, and develop tax professionals. Coordinate and consult with the Company's tax professionals on matters.

You Must Have:
Bachelor's Degree in tax or accounting, or a JD in Law
A minimum of 8 years of tax experience.
Big Four accounting or large corporate experience
In-depth technical knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
Excellent business acumen with a sound understanding of the tax implications of a multi-national manufacturing company.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to complex issues.
Effective presentation skills.
