Overview

The Sr. Systems Engineer for Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP) will help drive the ongoing development of the Monarch System for medical applications that exist in the field and have an established customer base. He/she will work closely with other functional groups, such as Marketing, Product Management, and Quality to address customer complaints from the field, occasionally travel to customer sites to support clinical cases, and ultimately work on new features and fixes for upgrade and enhancement projects, from conception to completion. The CIP Sr. Systems Engineer will provide coordination of technical efforts across the various disciplines through the translation of user needs or user complaints into a system design. He/she will also support system integration activities and be involved in verification activities including test development, execution, and report generation for such projects.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design, integration, and test of any upgrades or enhancements to the Auris system applications that currently exist on the field
  • Drive interdisciplinary coordination to tie all aspects of the system together and meet commercial program goals
  • Address customer complaints through proper investigation, documentation, and resolution via system design improvements and processes
  • Participate in defect triage meetings
  • Utilize sound engineering methods to perform engineering studies, design reviews, and failure mode analyses

Develop test methods to assess impact and verify changes to the system design

  • Travel to customer sites and do case support or observations, as needed
  • Other related duties as may be assigned

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Biomedical, or any related discipline
  • 4+ years working experience in an environment with complex, robotic systems - medical industry experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of system lifecycle phases and design control processes
  • Understanding of design transfer and commercial phase activities, complaints handling, and system upgrade processes
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities on multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment in compliance to ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820
