Leidos has a career opening for a Sr. Systems Engineer at Ft. Meade, MD. This position could also be located at Scott AFB, IL.
This unique Systems Engineering opportunity will allow you to participate on a high-visibility DoD Joint Information Environment program, Joint Regional Security Stacks (JRSS), which provides a joint services, multi-tenancy solution to protect and defend the DODIN and mission partner network traffic. This role provides senior end-to-end systems engineering leadership to the JRSS Operations and Sustainment team in a role that will be visible and engaged with DISA/JRSS senior customers and mission partners.
•Develop and maintain full understanding of the JRSS end-to-end system and networkarchitecture including the flow of network traffic from Base/Post/Camp/Station through the JRSS, DODIN. Provide systems and network engineering subject matter expertise when needed to the JRSS Operations team, DISA/JRSS customers and mission partners
•Develop and/or augment existing Systems Engineering and Architecture documentation to enhance the overall knowledge base of the JRSS end-to-end system, including key interface controls.
•Maintain current network diagram for Global JRSS Deployment (end-to-end), including primary, secondary and tertiary paths supporting customer and mission partner network traffic.
•Develop and maintain full understanding of the many toolsets within the overall JRSS system, including their key functions, best usage practices in a multi-tenancy environment and their impact of system/network performance.
•Develop and maintain a full understanding of the Cybersecurity functions/usage of JRSS to assist Operations/Net Assurance teams in resolving system performance issues.
•Manage Operations and Sustainment requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery/acceptance of Operational systems that are compatible with the defined system architecture(s). Identify documentation needed (TTPs, SOPs, CONOPs) to support Operations.
•Assist, as an Operations stakeholder, with the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual tools and/or components
•Support as the primary JRSS Operations stakeholder, the resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews that require cross-discipline coordination
•Participate in the development of system engineering documentation, such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents
•Drive the development of Operations performance baseline measures, such as network traffic round trip time, latency, operational availability and others as needed to characterize, optimize and improve system performance within Operations
•Assist with troubleshooting techniques, root cause analysis and corrective actions related to JRSS Operations incident and problem management.
•Derive from the Operations requirements an understanding of stakeholder needs, functions that may be logically inferred and implied as essential to system effectiveness.
•Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, Cybersecurity or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required; 5 yrs. of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
•15+ years’ experience as a Systems Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
•Demonstrated performance in a role which required end-to-end system engineering ownership of a complex system.
•Ability to travel at least 25% of time as needed to Operations sites.
•Must have an active Secret DOD Clearance to start the program.
•Top Secret or TS/SCI Eligible preferred.
