Under the supervision of the Lead System Engineer, the Systems Engineer II is responsible for Tier 3 support and assisting Leads and other System Admin team members in the installation, maintenance, documentation, security, backup, troubleshooting and support of all server systems. This position works closely with other IS Support Team Members demonstrating authoritative experience and knowledge with standard concepts, practices and procedures for system administration acting with minimal supervision. Provides assistance or takes lead role in the implementation of new releases of application or server software, diagnosis of complicated system problems, and day to day maintenance of Memorial’s application system hardware and OS environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Windows servers in an enterprise environment to include: Installation, patching, monitoring and issue resolution
  • Perform capacity trending/planning for server and strorage resources
  • Work with various IS and hospital teams on projects as assigned
  • Manage server retirement as applications are decomissioned
  • Assist with management of enterprise Date Center
  • Manage systems and data backups
  • Develop, implement, refine disaster recovery/business continuity processes
  • Strategic/future environment planning for server and storage systems

Required Skills/Knowlesge:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 8 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • two or more relevant industry advanced certifications such as MCSE, VCP, CCA, etc.
  • 5 or more years of managing 250+ Window servers in a highly available enterprise production setting
  • 3 or more years working with VMWare ESX/ESXi in an enterprise production setting
  • 3 or more years working with Citrix XenApp environment in an enterprise production setting
  • 2 or more years working with application/system monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Extrahop, Netscout, etc.
  • Understanding and production environment experience with Powershell scripting
  • Ability to work and interact within own teams as well as non-technical teams
  • Ability to multitask and operate with chaning priorities


  • Experience with HP enterprise class blade servers
  • Experience with HP 3Par and XP class enterprise SAN environment
  • Experience with Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Enterprise Backup Solution
  • Experience with Veeam Enterprise backup solution
  • 2 or more years of experience with Shavlik and/or SCCM for patch management
  • Implementation and management of Office 365 services


  • Participate in on-call rotation
  • Occasional travel may be required to the immediate region
