Qualifications: Information Technology’s AMI Implementation Team is seeking dedicated, dynamic, and innovative individuals to join its management team. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring that the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) core applications are implemented on time, according to specification, and meet performance requirements. The candidates will join the AMI Application Support team supporting the new MAMS - Meter Asset Management System, the ProField Field Support or the Service Delivery Point Generator (SDPG). This position will have a focus on AMI system integrations and configurations in support of Orange & Rockland systems and practices. The ideal candidate will have experience with the successful design, development, testing, and migration to long-term support for enterprise class applications. The candidate should have experience working closely with users to design and develop system interfaces, reports, and enhancements to facilitate new or existing business processes. Strong verbal and written communications skills are required. Full understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes and experience writing key SDLC documents is required. Senior System Analyst (2L): Requires Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Information Technology and three (3) years to 5 years applicable experience in a related field. Preference will be given to those candidates with experience in application development and support.
The selected candidates must be able to work independently and coordinate activities across multiple locations. For the duration of the AMI project, this position will be based out of 4 Irving Place. The candidate will be required to travel to other company sites as needed. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate an ability and past experience successfully working in a remote location from their primary team. Final reporting location following the AMI project is to be determined, but candidates should understand that they may be based in locations outside of 4 Irving Place as required by the final application support plan. The core AMI applications will be Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products that will need to be configured and interfaced with existing systems. The candidate should have experience developing complex system interfaces, both point-to-point and via middleware, that follow best practices. The candidate should have experience designing and validating Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes and optimizing their performance. The AMI system will be responsible for processing large volumes of data with stringent performance requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and implementing enterprise testing strategies both to validate proper system function (end-to-end) and performance (stress testing). The candidate should have experience working with vendors to troubleshoot and tune application performance concerns. Design and development of new reports and metrics will be a key project activity. The candidate should have experience working with users to define, specify, and implement complex reports. The candidate should be fluent in SQL, able to craft queries, and be well versed in database fundamentals. The candidate should be able to read and understand a database schema and data dictionary. Experience supporting Smart Meter related business processes such as billing, asset lifecycle management, meter testing/support, network monitoring/control, demand response, or outage management in a utility or regulated industry is desired. Prior experience supporting Orange & Rockland Customer Information Systems, Asset Management Systems, or Work Management Systems is highly desired. For external applicants, experience with any of the following products is highly desired: Silver Spring Networks’ Utility IQ (HES), Omnetric/eMeter’s Energy IP (MDMS), TESCO’s Meter Manager (MAMS), or Smart Grid Solutions’ (formerly APEX) ProField meter installation management tool, SQL Server, SSIS Package Development, and C#.
Responsibilities: Responsible for the technical support of core AMI systems such as the AMI Head End System (HES), Meter Data Management System (MDMS) or Meter Asset Management System (MAMS). In this capacity the candidate will work directly with the respective business subject matter experts to ensure that applications are implemented per design, schedule, and budget while adhering to Information Resources policies and standards. Works closely with business groups to gather functional requirements and translate them into technical specifications and detailed work estimates. Responsible for transitioning applications from project development to permanent production and will assume long-term application support responsibility following implementation. The candidate will be expected to assist the AMI Systems Manager and AMI Project Director with ensuring that Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) applications are implemented in accordance within defined scope, satisfy functional and performance requirements, and are completed in accordance with project plan and schedules. Assists in ensuring that all phases of the project are completed successfully and in full compliance with Information Resources SDLC policies and requirements. Responsible for acting as the liaison between the project team/business stakeholders and Information Technology groups such as Middleware (BizTalk), Servers and Storage, Systems Assurance, Database Administration, Quality Assurance, System Architecture and Governance, Network Operations, and interfacing Application Support Teams. The candidate will support the installation, configuration, patching and upgrade of assigned applications. The candidate will assist in the migration of application artifacts from development, to test, and to production and disaster recovery environments. The candidate will work closely with the System Infrastructure teams to configure servers, storage, and network access and support. Selected candidate will also work with business users, application developers, DBAs, and product vendors to diagnose and solve application errors and performance issues. Assists Technical Architecture, Database Administration, and Servers and Storage Operations groups with issues related to backup and restore, high availability, disaster recovery failovers, and performance issues. Candidates will also work with middleware and interfacing application teams to diagnose and solve integration issues. Supports application upgrade and lifecycle planning. Responsible for writing technical documentation and conducting technical presentations to all levels of management.
