The Senior Linux System Administrator working on the IT Engineering Systems team will be responsible for providing highly complex technical support and solutions to the engineering organizations at Qorvo. This position will be required to architect, implement, support and improve complex Linux, and high performance compute in a large, global engineering environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collaborating across the enterprise on efforts for various IT activities helping to define new standards that improve and optimize the Qorvo engineering environment.


  • Partner with engineering and management to deliver strategic initiatives, projects, recommend technologies and automation efforts
  • Provide advanced Linux (RHEL, CentOS) troubleshooting and technical support to the engineering organizations
  • Contribute to roadmaps, leveraging current and future technologies, providing innovative and sustainable solutions to complex problems
  • Assist in day-to-day maintenance of the engineeringinfrastructure, including Linux system builds, configuration & security management, patching, automation and system upgrades, troubleshooting complex technical issues
  • Management help tickets related to the engineering environment
  • Help maintain, monitor, produce, and analyze metrics for production systems to ensure optimal performance, resource utilization and uptime
  • Propose, test, implement, and support new solutions


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, ElectricalEngineering or another technical field, or additional years of directly applicable experiencerequired
  • 8+ years of direct experience in the support of Linux (RHEL, CentOS) including Kickstart and PXE
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
  • Good documentation skills and habits; capable of training users, mentoring other system administrators in all aspects of the job
  • Ability to interact positively with management at all levels
  • Independent problem-solving and troubleshooting in an engineering focused complex global Linux environment and associated IT infrastructure
  • Proficient in all aspects of Linux operating system administration including system installation, configuration management, high performance computing, security, package repositories, patching and installation of third-party software in very large environments
  • Solid understanding of Linux-based operating systems including virtual memory management, kernel memory accounting, daemons, devices, device drivers, loadable modules, filesystem concepts and SELinux
  • Skilled in one or more configuration management tools to support large environments (i.e. Puppet, Ansible, Chef, SaltStack, or others)
  • Experience with event and system monitoring tools and methodologies
  • Ability to write and support complex scripts and programs, preferably using perl, bash, with python a plus
  • Experience building and deploying Open Source tools
  • Understanding NFS, DNS, LDAP, and other critical components of large Linux environments
  • Understanding of public/private cloud technologies (Google Cloud, Azure, AWS or others)
  • Experience managing large (500+ node) distributed compute clusters
  • Experience in Silicon and EDA workloads
  • Experience with Depot, Stow, wrappers, modules or other methodologies of delivering EDA tools and open source software to 100’s of machines across multiple sites a plus
  • Experience with large network attached storage (NetApp or other) environments
  • FlexLM License management experience
  • Windows administration experience a plus
  • Experience running and reporting on usage of IBM Platform LSF grids is a plus
  • Linux certification (Red Hat, Linux Foundation or equivalent)
