Our Opportunity:

The Digital Innovation team is being created based on a strong belief from our Chief Digital Officer that Schwab needs to continue to innovate on our digital client experiences. The team is responsible for defining and building Schwab’s innovation program that may include everything from feature enhancement to new product lines. The team will create a comprehensive strategy on digital innovations relevant to Schwab as well as execute on key elements of the program. This program will combine the best of internal innovation approaches (e.g.,first to launch a robo of the traditional players) and select external approaches (e.g.,cryptocurrencies). The team will focus on near term innovations that benefit our client experience as well as longer-term product innovations.

What you’ll do:

The Sr. Staff - Product Owner/Innovation Lab Management will be a key participant in the innovation program, helping Schwab innovate on behalf of clients and investors. This role will serve as the point person working with R&D and digital design teams to ensure innovation labs are meeting timeline expectations and pushing for truly new & innovative experiences. The Sr. Manager will support in coaching and guiding the team to keep the client and strategic objectives in focus. We have a long history of questioning the status quo – whether it be the 24/7 quotes, or online brokerage, or the start of a mutual fund marketplace. The program is overseen by the Chief Digital Officer and has senior executive commitment. The role reports to the Innovation Lab Director.

What you will contribute to the Company:

  • Foster an in-depth understanding of the ways that Schwab serves clients, and the key ways in which Schwab can improve the delivery and quality of key experiences
  • Provide thought leadership in the design of new processes and interactions to enhance the overall client experience
  • Lead sprint planning meetings; explore and refine feature priorities and requirements with the development team from early vision stages to working prototypes.
  • Lead the sprint review (demo) along with stakeholders to provide fast feedback on sprint results
  • Draw insight from key performance metrics, make recommendations that drive improvements amongst the innovation lab team
  • Champion the client and the strategic objective of the digital solution the innovation lab team is attempting to build
  • Develop a fast-paced product development culture to create, test, release, and measure product
  • Be an effective internal spokesperson for the Innovation Lab

What you have:

  • 4- 7 years of consumer or retail product management or product development
  • Product management or development within financial services preferred
  • Work experience in consulting, big data analytics, or human factor design is a plus
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences
  • Experienced leader with strong orchestration and influencing skills to build credibility with peers and stakeholders (at all levels of the organization) to be able to drive action
  • Skill at operating at both strategic and tactical levels, including proven experience managing products or services and well as the delivery of projects with cross-functional teams
  • Proven experience in executing product roadmaps from conception through launch
  • Design thinking approach, bringing empathy, creativity, data-driven insights and logical reasoning to solve complex problems
  • Strong analytical and quantitative modeling skills, with demonstrated ability to succinctly interpret data, give structure to complex issues, and convert ideas to action
  • Intellectual curiosity to continually reevaluate our offers / products, develop multiple solutions to the same opportunity, and identify the common failure modes associated with each solution
  • Comfort in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment, with a positive attitude, self-starting ability, and solid work ethic
  • BA/BS degree (MBApreferred)
