Position Description Primary Responsibilities
Prepare Inventory forecast.   Review inventory trends and current position, discuss anticipated inventory levels with the supply group directors, taking into account sales, logistics, shortage potential, and direction decided by IMC’s product supply group.   Provide data and analysis as needed to the supply group.    Report forecast to AutoZone weekly.
Prepare excess and obsolete inventory report monthly.   Prepare analysis of data, comparing trends by period, product, aging, pricing and mover status categories.   Review IMC logic for calculation of reserve balances and provide suggestions for improvement.   Look for reasons behind unanticipated balance changes.  Take a leadership role and coordinate regular meetings with operations to heighten awareness and reduce IMC’s excess slow moving inventory balance.
Provide SAP inventory reporting to AutoZone to be used for Lifo calculations each period.
Analyze GRIR (Goods Received, Invoices Received) transactions to identify and resolve inventory receipt issues at the warehouse, invoice posting issues by AP, and purchase order issues by the supply group.   Identify and research trends by vendor, warehouse and AP posting transaction type.  Look for solutions to repetitious posting problems.  Meet weekly with the accounts payable manager to identify next steps for GRIR clean-up, prioritized vendors for clean-up, and clearing of small credit and debit balances.    Coordinate with the vendor collections group prior to making invoice adjustments.    Obtain approval from the CFO for proposed write-offs.   Prepare and GRIR reports and related reserve balances.
Analysis of other inventory P&L accounts including scrap, cycle count, and material revaluation.    These are high profile accounts that require continual monitoring and coordination with operations to understand trends and inventory issues.   Keep a focus on accounts to raise visibility within operations, identify re occurring issues in an effort to reduce IMC’s negative impact to the P&L.
Prepare reporting and analysis for vendor rebate receivables.  Analyze collection trends by vendor and prior period taking into consideration sales trends and other factors.   Schedule meetings with the supply group to discuss collections.    Prepare and distribute monthly reporting to the supply group and senior management in an effort to keep a focus on deadlines for collecting receivable balances. 
Prepare reporting and analyze Greenfield vendor receivable balances.   Greenfield receivables are credits vendors give IMC for opening new branches and providing the vendor with added business.  Keep the supply group in the loop on collections and remaining balances and encourage the supply group to collect by established year-end deadlines.
Develop and prepare financial statement reporting and detail reports.  (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, SLIM Report detail by account)   Bring in data from People Soft to IMC excel format.  This tool allows for analysis of trends, and provides detail for research.   Maintain and continue to develop the report.   Balance the report against people soft and SAP and correct errors.
Preparation of budget templates and reporting.    Lead role with operations to update headcount, freight, labor.   Coordinate and discuss with IMC’s COO to get budget projections.  
Balance Sheet and Income Statement explanations and closing processes.  Account reconciliations.
Take a leadership role with operations, administrative departments and co-workers to help others better understand financial data, and provide needed analysis to help operations make better decisions.
Prepare branch profitability analysis, identify trends and opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.   Present results to upper management

Position Requirements

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) or equivalent in Accounting.
Experience:  5 to 7 years in accounting
Certifications:   None, CPA or MBA a plus
Other:   Strong analytical, communication, computer skills, reporting and inventory background.  Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
