This position is for a Sr. Specialist, Indirect Strategic Sourcing, focused on Indirect spend categories, works closely with cross-functional stakeholder teams and uses the 7-step sourcing process to develop strategies that deliver breakthrough savings and/or quality improvements. Responsibilities include developing and executing sourcing strategy(s) for a variety of Indirect spend categories (such as Marketing, Entertainment, HR, Finance, Professional Services, IT, etc.) as well as managing relationships with key suppliers that can deliver sustainable value to Holland America Group. The Sr. Specialist must understand relevant external market and industry dynamics that could influence strategy development and make recommendations on how to leverage the dynamics to benefit Holland America Group and in some cases, across all brands within the Carnival Corporation portfolio.


Responsibilities:

  • Works independently, with management and cross-functional teams to plan and implement early sourcing opportunities and activities in medium-high value strategic projects.
  • Builds relationships across various stakeholder groups to establish value and become a trusted sourcing partner to the teams.
  • Uses 7-step sourcing process to develop sourcing strategies for assigned categories.
  • Develops project scope and sourcing plan(s); identifies project and category spend opportunities to leverage Company volume.
  • Locates, analyzes, develops and recommends preferred sources of supply, both domestically and internationally, to satisfy business requirements.
  • Negotiates agreements with suppliers on medium-high risk/medium-high value projects.
  • Interfaces with other Carnival Corporation operating companies to benchmark spend against marketplace. Participates in and/or leads All Brand Group or specific interdepartmental sourcing initiatives to generate savings and efficiencies.
  • Implements and executes high-value sourcing strategies in line with supply chain and client departments' missions.
  • Applies knowledge of supply chain management and global commodities within assigned Indirect categories to ensure expected delivery, quality, and risk mitigation/ issue resolution.
  • Partners with Finance to establish baselines and validate value creation.
  • Enters into and maintains contracts maximizing cost competitiveness and leveraging projects, as well as brand/group level and corporate spend volumes while ensuring that procurements are in compliance with company procedures.
  • Gathers and interprets data; utilizing key procurement information, system technology, e-commerce, and systems to execute contracts and purchase orders, perform spend analysis, and generate reports.
  • Develops and issues RFx's, evaluates bids, recommends suppliers and negotiates agreements, monitors and administers agreements and change orders insuring compliance with Company and Department policies and procedures, prepares procurement approval memos.
  • Monitors supplier performance and takes corrective action to ensure goods and services are delivered as contracted including management of Purchase Orders and invoice trouble-shooting as needed.
  • Works with Manager to establish savings targets, tracks, meets and reports savings in monthly reports and other department performance metrics.

Requirements:

  • BS/BA, MBA or demonstrable related work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years related experience in strategic sourcing and contracting with progressively responsible assignments including project procurement and management of Indirect spend categories such as Marketing, HR, Finance, Professional Services, IT, Corporate
  • Prior Indirect strategic sourcing experience.
  • Expert level of negotiation skills and practices, price/cost analysis, contract formation and administration, project procurement, sourcing, distribution and logistics processes.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional Supply Manager (CPSM) certification.
  • Ability to lead, manage, and influence in a cross-functional team and complex organizational environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage at multiple levels of the organization.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated successful project management experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure, while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Identify and resolve problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Proficient in the use of computer business applications.
  • Ability to maintain ethical and professional relations with suppliers, team members and any other party that conducts business with the organization.
