This position performs complex research, design, and software development assignments within a software functional area or product line, and provides direct input to project plans, schedules, and methodology in the development of cross-functional software products. This position performs software design typically across multiple systems; mentors more-junior members of the team; and talks to users/customers and translates their requests into solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required

Required Skills:

  • 8+ years experience with Java, well versed in advanced Object Oriented Development concepts including design patterns.
  • 3+ years of experience in Spring or equivalent Java programming framework.
  • 3+ years experience with writing Web Services
  • 4+ years experience with Relational Database Systems (MySQL, Sybase)
  • 4+ years experience with Unix / Linux Operating System
  • Experience with Data processing tool, data munging/processing, ETL, or Hadoop.
  • Familiarity with the platform described at HPCCSystems.com, having studied the “learning resources” and applied it in the form of any exercise a big plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidate must be an energetic, self-motivated problem solver who works well in a team.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Data transformations, XML, WSDL and SOAP, JUnit/Hudson/Sonar Automated Test Driven Development , Experience with Cloud services.
  • Understanding of professional software development processes - Including familiarity with the cycles of requirements definition, issue tracking, version control, automated testing, deployment and maintenance.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
