ob Description

This Sr Software Engineer works on the endpoint team located in Los Gatos CA, maintaining the Forcepoint endpoint software for Microsoft windows platforms. This position focuses on working with external and internal customers in order to solve issues.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain the Windows and/or Mac endpoint code that is integrated with Forcepoint security products
  • Investigate and resolve escalated issues reported by external and internal customers
  • Work with local and remote development teams to ensure effective interoperation of system components
  • Work side-by-side with QA engineers as part of the SCRUM development process
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned to meet team and company goals
  • Breaks down User Stories, participates in design activities, and documents necessary information for feature/component implementation
  • Takes ownership of existing code and/or writes new code
  • Debugs complex software modules, working from written and/or verbal descriptions of problems

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE, or EE, master’s degree preferred
  • 4 years of the experience programming in C/C++ with at least 3 years on MS Windows
  • Experience troubleshooting user space applications
  • Knowledge of networking technologies and protocols
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and teamwork skills
  • Good interpersonal skill with customers and cross functional teams
  • Adaptable and responsive as expected in an Agile/SCRUM environment
  • High level of attention to quality in coding, documentation, and testing

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Prior experience developing security products for the commercial or federal market
  • Direct experience with driver and kernel development for OS X or BSD
  • Familiarity with the use of certificates, encryption, and related infrastructure
  • Familiarity of operating system design and low level programming
  • Familiarity with security technologies such as DLP, web filtering, insider threat detection, UEBA, SIEM and an understanding of how these work together within an ecosystem
