As a Senior Sales Compensation Consultant, you’ll provide expert compensation consulting to US Insurance Solutions and Principal International, with specific focus on the design, implementation and on-going management of sales incentive programs.

How you'll spend your day to day:

  • Analyze industry information to ensure compensation programs are market competitive. Develop pricing strategies and prepare analysis on competitive positioning. Complete modeling of incentive plans to ensure design aligns with desired results. Evaluate incentive plan effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry consultants and other contacts. May serve on functional committees inside and outside the company as a representative of Human Resources. Provide proactive compensation consulting to assigned client groups. Consult on other facets of compensation including job usage, job offers, salary administration, attraction/retention strategies, recognition and equity programs.
  • Lead the design of sales incentive plans, requiring extensive interaction with senior business management, to create plans that are aligned with business strategy. Partner with key stakeholders in Finance, Compliance and Legal to ensure plans fit within expense allowables, are compliant and based on sound risk management.
  • Lead the execution of key incentive compensationprocesses. Facilitate the review and approval of incentive proposals with Distribution Compensation Committees. Lead incentive planrisk assessments with cross-functional teams to ensure effective controls are in place. Coordinate implementation of incentive plans with administration teams. Complete incentive plan documentation. Partner with Finance on incentive accruals and consult on incentive outcomes.


  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent and 8+ years of related experiencerequired.
  • Knowledge of sales incentive design concepts and ability to independently lead incentive design process with senior business leaders and other internal stakeholders is required.
  • Experience supporting international clients including sales compensation plan design and program management preferred.
  • Must have strong analytical and organizational skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting detailed technical recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Must have strong project management skills and ability to influence others to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Has knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite and strong Excel skills required.
  • Experience using a market survey management system (Pay Factors or similar system) desired.
  • Sales incentive program design and management in a global financial services organization is preferred.
