Position Overview

Adaptive is seeking an experienced Senior Scientific Project Manager who is enthusiastic about biotechnology, scientific research, and improving human health. We're looking for someone who excels at coordinating cross-functional teams, managing resources with multiplestakeholders across an organization, and communicating technical content to diverse audiences.

You will join a highly collaborative Computational Biology group that supports a wide variety of functions across the company. By helping our quantitative scientists in prioritizing, tracking, and completing work on several projects, you will enhance the effectiveness of our team. You will coordinate with managers from many different parts of the company to ensure that our group's resources are efficiently deployed and utilized to advance Adaptive's goals.

Outstanding candidates will have extensive experience managing projects for an interdisciplinary team of scientists, as well as the strong technical and biological background needed to communicate with people in a variety of roles at a growing biotech company.   • Coordinate and direct the activities of a growing Computational Biology team with 12+ members.
  • Meet regularly with managers from other groups to field requests for Computational Biology resources and to balance the priorities of team members.
  • Develop project plans, track action item completion, and anticipate obstacles before they put timelines at risk.
  • Identify and advocate for resource needs to achieve project objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, from wet lab scientists to clinicians to executive team members.
  • Mentor junior associates in project methodologies and best practices.
  • Contribute to the functional excellence of project management by participating in the development and continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and tools related to project and portfolio management practices.
  • BE A PROBLEM SOLVER: communicate well, ask questions, proactively eliminate bottlenecks, and be the person people go to when they want a job done right.

Requirements 7+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or life sciences research environment

  • 7+ years of experience in project management
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically when planning, managing teams, and managing processes
  • Skillful use of interpersonal skills and influence to accomplish work without formal authority and to ensure optimal team performance
  • Requires strong experience facilitating project team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision-making ensuring alignment with internal and potentially external stakeholders in a highly matrixed organization
  • Must have sound judgment, problem solving, matrix management, and collaboration in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to problems
  • Demonstrated ability to take accountability for all project management aspects and works effectively and closely with projectleaders
