Perform project-engineering duties related to new equipment purchase, equipment modification, equipment design, and product or process development. Oversee installation, operation, training maintenance, and repair of such equipment for the packaging industry. Allow new products or features to be added to existing products to expand sales.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages multiple business critical projects and/or programs by applying process and project management principles to meet project deliverables of cost, time, and performance.

  • Define project critical paths and direct assigned resources to meet established objectives by involving appropriate stakeholders.

  • Responsible for setting project deadlines and managing project budgets.

  • Utilizing 2D and 3D CAD, knowledge of tolerance and fits, and general equipment principles, designs and details new or modified equipment or processes to meet requirements

  • Directly involved in the entire development through installation testing process to include direct hands on activities.

  • Given a specific problem, explore all feasible solutions and determine the most practical solution for the purpose. Using knowledge of materials, control systems, costing and safety, design the solution.

  • Collaborates with external or internal resources to achieve desired solution(s).

  • Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design.

  • Evaluates operations equipment and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions or inefficiencies.

  • Confers with management and general staff to implement plans and recommendations.

  • Work is stated in terms of objectives, requiring project planning and judgment.

  • May have overall project responsibility.

  • Acts as technical authority in area of specialty on assigned projects

  • May have 1 or more direct reports

  • Mentor Project or Junior Engineers in design, costing, design plans and project schedule designs

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, have strong mathematic calculation capability

  • Must be proficient in CAD using both 2D AutoCAD and 3D CAD to create, schemes, designs, solid models, assemblies, layouts and detail drawings

  • Generate creative design solutions; Translates concepts and information into images; Uses feedback to modify designs; Applies design principles.

  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in a group problem solving situations

  • Must be detail oriented

  • Must have the ability to work independently

  • Must have the ability to adapt to rapid change and work in a fast paced environment

  • Must have excellent communication, planning, negotiation and organizational skills and the ability to independently manage a heavy workload.

  • Have the judgment and experience to identify and evaluate cost and progress trends.

  • Have the ability to develop and maintain competitive sourcing in regards to price and service.

  • Receives input and coordination of information from various parties, and prepares and presents such information for management review.

  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as persistence in seeking out required information, are required.


    Education and/or Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical EngineeringTechnology

  • 10+ years of experience, preferably in the flexible packaging field

  • Project and time management experience.


    Language Skills:

  • Must be capable of speaking, reading, and writing English with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to read, and analyze professional journals, technical procedures, technical manuals or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports and procedure manuals to train personnel.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
