What We're Looking For


HNTB Corporation is currently seeking a Sr. Project Engineer (Civil/Highway/MOT) in our Kansas City, Missouri or Arlington, Virginia offices to support our growing Design/Build practice. This group is responsible for managing and designing some of the largest and most significant projects in the country. HNTB's Design/Build Delivery Group provides design, production and technical expertise for the successful delivery of these high-profile projects.


The Sr. Project Engineer (Civil/Highway/MOT) is responsible for coordination of highway/interstate design project execution and control, in a given discipline area, to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. Also accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to discipline field. Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. Serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts. Responsible for gross revenue of $1-$2M.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs technical roadway/civil/MOT design leading or as part of a team on the Nation's largest and most complex design build transportation projects
  • Mentor and develop engineering skills of junior engineering staff
  • Travel 50% Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  • 10 or more years of experience in the, design, management and implementation of highway/roadway civil engineering transportation projects
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Missouri, New York, Florida, California or Texas strongly preferred
  • Experience in design of major highway/interstate projects
  • Experience with implementing AASHTO design criteria
  • Familiarity with Maintenance of Traffic design and construction phasing
  • Experience with Bentley and AutoCAD design products
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics AX desired
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project


What You'll Need


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.
  • Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team's work. Supervises and guides team to overall project objectives.
  • Provides senior-level technical expertise to client on project aspects within the discipline.
  • Assists with project management duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 10 years relevant experience
