This role is within the Corporate Systems group in the Information Technology organization at AIG and a key member of our Houston based Treasury IT support team. The team is responsible to support, architect, design and develop enhancements and execute projects for our Treasury IT solutions. The team will ensure support and development of the treasury solutions and processes.

As an integral member of our Corporate Systems Finance Treasury IT team, the Sr. Programmer is charged with using their deep technical, development and business knowledge to design, develop and implement applications, modules and interfaces for solutions to support our payment hub, payment processing systems, web applications, liquidity planning, cash management and other treasury processes. 

To be successful in this role, the candidate must have experience and expert knowledge in infrastructure, operating systems (e.g., Windows and Linux), databases (Oracle/SQLServer), web application development and networking.

Technology platforms you might work on include, but are not limited to: Microsoft BizTalk, C#.NET, Java/JEE, Oracle, SQL Server, In-Memory Databases, Business Objects/Crystal Enterprise, IBM MQ, SAP Business Planning & Consolidation and VB/VBA with MS Office Integration.

You will also independently diagnose and resolve complex support issues related to our treasury system portfolio and software customizations. Finally, you must have communication skills to elaborate upon these topics in simple meaningful business terms.

Experience in transaction processing payments environments, treasury processes and ability to grasp the application layers is expected from a Sr. Programmer.  To grow in this position, the candidate will be able to take on additional responsibilities and take the path toward design and architecture in other aspects of application, analytics, solution architecture (e.g. cloud based SaaS and BI solutions) or business process design.

Job Responsibilities:      Here are some typical activities you may have done recently:

  • Design, develop, configure, and test Windows/BizTalk based products that support critical business processes. These experiences helped to improve or develop existing or new business application following standard and guidelines to reach a target state architecture within your company’s strategic vision (Extensive programming skills and knowledge of an ESB architecture model to communicate to the development teams how and when to use what components).

  • Designed and develop a web application implementing a custom workflow with an interface into a payment system (web development and interface development).

  • Provide explanations and diagrams of complicated technologies in simple terms.  Be the subject matter expert people rely upon.  (Communication and presentation skills).

  • Created a business rule logic with PL/SQL and interface with BizTalk. (Database development skills).

  • Proactively recommend process, control and service improvements leading to more automation and less support maintenance effort. 

  • Work with Enterprise DBAs and Business Analysts to move data across technologies – from a development perspective (Database skills in DB2, Oracle and otherdatabases).

  • Work with development teams and foster a development approach to standardization and automation.  Show support personal how to design utilities to help improve prevention, responsiveness and identification of issues. (Skills in scriptinglanguage, HTML, .NET, Java).

  • Work with a team of analysts to deploy, test and confirm production deployments (use TFS and JIRA or other SDLC tools. Understand the System Development Life Cycle).

  • Understand structured and unstructured data files in EDI, ISO XML, FIN, BAI and a number of payment and reporting standards.  Work with Banks to understand and resolve interface issues.

  • Self-Train in new technologies that interface with your platform (BI, In memory databases like SAP HANA, Budgeting and Planning Tools).

  • Designed an automated process and replaced an expensive error prawn manual process (use process design skills).

  • Document treasury IT flow diagrams for payment processes, FX risk management, bank account administration and more (develop required project documentation, project management).


Job Requirements:  Qualifications and Experience

  • 5+ years of computer systems experience involving installing, supporting, and using information technology in a large, regulated financial services environment is required.

  • 3+ years of developing BizTalk applications, .Net and/or Java/JEE, experience of proposing, documenting technology solutions and reference architectures across broad spectrum of technologies including: Custom workflow development, Custom web part development, automated build and deployment on MS projects.

  • 3+ Years of technical design and development experience in at least 2 full life cycle development projects in treasury or finance systems.

  • Hands on experience in HTML and web application programming.

  • Proficiency in Visual Studio and PL/SQL for Oracle development.

  • Overall proficiency in technologies including ASP.NET, C#, SharePoint, XML and XSLT, WCF, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, Oracle, BizTalk 2013, IBM MQ and SQL Server.

  • Broader knowledge of othertechnologies including Windows Server, Active Directory, Browser technologies, MFC and XML/EDI/BAI files.

  • Be able to confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs. Resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.

  • Understanding of core treasury processes.

  • DesiredEducation: BA/BS in Computer Science or Information Management Related.
