The Senior Program Manager Manages organization wide, large, complex efforts that combine the delivery of software elements, new and changed business models, and overall changes to organizational structure and capabilities.  Typically these efforts involve several parallel projects, subject matter experts, business areas, managers and key stakeholders.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Accountable to executive sponsors for schedule, budget, and quality of all program elements
  • Leads team and supports larger organization in transformation from waterfall to Agile Delivery
  • Guide and coach delivery teams to self-organize and achieve objectives, without assigning or dictating the work.
  • Provide support to the Product Owner and Development Team, and lead by example.
  • Lead team through times of ambiguity by providing vision, stability and removal of barriers
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.  Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and resolved
  • Establishes and reviews objectives, coordinates all activities across projects, and oversees the integration and reuse of interim work products and results.  This person spends more time and effort on integration activities, negotiating changes in plans, and communicating than on the other project management activities
  • Provides and interprets policies, creating an environment that fosters sustainable momentum for the program (i.e. removing barriers both inside and outside the enterprise), and periodically reviewing program progress and interim results to ensure alignment with the overall strategic vision
  • Leads high-level sessions for program plan and schedule development
  • Reviews/approves project plans for conformance to program strategy and program plan and schedule
  • Acts as the communications conduit to executive sponsors and program steering committee and conducts periodic briefings/status updates
  • Escalates decisions to executive sponsors as necessary

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 7 – 10 years of previous experience as a Program Manager
  • 4-6 years of Senior Project Management Experience
  • 3 years of Scrum Master experience
  • Proven track record of managing large program end-to-end delivery to time, cost and quality
  • Flexibility to work on technology, change and business process programs
  • In-depth knowledge and proven application of Program and Project Management methodologies and full project lifecycle including documentation standards, risk, issue, assumption and dependency management and change controls process
  • Strong Financial Management skills
  • Good skills and knowledge of facilitation techniques, servant leadership, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Experience in sprint & release planning, running demos and retrospectives
  • Familiarity with process modeling, workshop facilitation and business analysis
  • There may be a requirement for travel in this role 

Preferred Skills/Experience: 

  • Banking Industry experience preferred
  • Big Data and/or Infrastructure experience  
  • Experience with Agile PLM tools like JIRA, Rally, VersionOne, etc.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games

Educational/Certifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Master’s Degree highly preferred
  • PMI Certification preferred
  • CSM certification
