Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our technical staff responsible for development and sustainment of navy systems programs. The system engineering group works with internal and external customers to develop system architecture, hardware and software design solutions, establish new program/project start-ups, and develop/manage risk assessments. Our work is mission critical and directly contributes to national security.


Responsibilities include the following:

  • Perform technical planning, requirements development, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Travel is occasional, consisting of visits to customer and subcontractor offices for program updates and technical reviews. Travel may increase in frequency around major program milestones.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline and 9+ years of relevant work experience, or Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong fundamentals in Systems Engineering
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Experience in systems engineering disciplines (e.g. CONOPs, requirements derivation/allocation, system design and analysis, and system architecture)
  • Experience with Systems Engineering documentation (e.g. ICDs, Specs, UDS documentation, Requirements Verification Documents).
  • Familiarity with architecture, requirements and interface artifacts for complex systems
  • Exposure to EVMS or Cost Account Management


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Design and Operational knowledge of Navy Programs
  • Experience with systems engineering tools (e.g. DOORS, CREO, Matlab, Teamcenter)
  • Experience with MBSE
  • Ability to read and interpret government or military specifications
  • Experience with proposals
  • Proficient 3D modeling (Solidworks, Creo, NX, etc)
