The Operations Engineer is accountable for creating and maintaining the Network Operations Center capability for Federated's wireless Connectivity as a Service (CaaS) network and supporting our CBRS Shared Spectrum system. The Operations Engineer will define operational requirements and establish tools and methods to validate application and system performance. The selected candidate will ensure 3rd Party Vendor operational KPIs are monitored and managed providing ongoing vendor management support. You will gain Private LTE technical expertise and understand CBRS spectrum management in order to drive improvements in network and application availability. This position provides a prime opportunity for an experienced engineer to make a significant impact on a growing company with a large market opportunity.
Lead triage efforts related to service scalability, reliability and performance.
Define the system and processes required to operate and support a 3GPP LTE system leveraging CBRS to allow for proper operations (including EPC, RAN, environmental’s and backhaul)
Define end to end operational processes that link (outsourced) NOC function responsibilities to Customer Support, Operations, and Engineering
Work with Product and Engineering to prioritize needed CaaS capabilities
Operate and maintain a nationwide network, providing recommendations on continued improvement for service quality and reliability.
Work with Customer Support, equipment vendors, NOC, and Engineering to Drive continuous improvement
Integrate processes into key Federated tools: JIRA, Atlassian Service Desk and Salesforce.com
Drive efficiency through cloud-based tools, process automation, and simplification of systems
Proven experience in defining and implementing an Operational capability for 3GPP wireless systems.
3+ years’ experience in system design or engineering for 3GPP EPC / RAN infrastructure.
3+ years’ experience System Integration, and end to end system performance desired
Experience in interfacing basic telecom services and protocols using API calls
Familiarity with cloud and on-premise solutions software development, triage and maintenance is critical
Software development and workflow management tools, such as JIRA, Service Desk, ELK Stack
Strong sense of ownership. High degree of personal initiative.
Knowledge of 3GPP wireless architectures
Working knowledge of LTE/5G, both EPC & RAN
Strong written and oral communication
Bachelor's degree in business or technical field. Business, process engineering and/or data analytics coursework desirable
