Department Overview

The ASTRO Engineering Organization within Motorola Solutions Inc. is responsible for delivering integrated and tested systems for leading edge private mission critical and professional tier telecommunications systems. This includes system requirements analysis, testware & software design/development and all software integration and validation activities to achieve ship acceptance for applications, broadband, and land-mobile radio systems and products.

The ASTRO Engineering Organization consists of a diverse group of skill-sets; systems test engineers, system architects, program managers, and software engineers. The ASTRO Engineering Organization focuses on the software development and performance of the systems and works in close partnership with product/software engineering and the field implementation and support teams in support of the entire product lifecycle.

Job Description

ASTRO Engineering Organization maintains and deploys lab equipment globally located with network connections to various Motorola products. Network Engineering team is responsible for the availability of existing networks and implementation of new networks for new feature development.

The role of the Network Engineer is to design, implement and maintain transport networks that connect various Motorola test systems. The focus is on maintaining the existing networks and troubleshooting user issues. The role also includes configuration planning and implementation of new transport for new network system interfaces as well as defining and implementing monitoring solutions.

10% Travel is expected

Network engineer is responsible for working on

  • Lab backhaul
  • Cloud connectivity
  • User VPN access
  • Remote lab connectivity.
  • Some automation may be required so coding skills are a plus.

Additional Qualified Skills:

  • Experience with routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, ISIS and others as needed
  • Experience with MPLS
  • Experience with LAN switching
  • Experience with Manufacture Hardware: Juniper, Fortinet, HP/Aruba Procurve
  • Minimum preferred certifications: Juniper Network Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA) or equivalent
  • Experience in scripting/programming is a plus.
  • Experience with Motorola ASTRO 25 systems a plus
  • Self motivated, excellent communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's (BS) Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 3+ years experience in IP networking preferred
