Primary Responsibilities

Work with a multidiscipline group of engineers and technicians providing engineering and design services to the power generation industry.  Projects include life extension and system upgrades of existing power generating facilities as well as new power generation facilities.

Primary responsibilities are expected to include:

  • producing mechanical system designs; P&IDs, equipment sizing, detailed design, system calculations
  • preparing equipment, and design specifications,
  • performing equipment and contractor bid evaluations,
  • providing field support during installation, testing and start-up of designs in the field,
  • performing feasibility studies,
  • preparing project cost estimates,
  • assisting with client presentations and preparation of client proposals,

Essential qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • 10+ years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry, coal and gas fired facilities.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Proficiency in the use of standard PC software: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Microstation or other.
  • Be able to coordinate their work with others; have good communication, written, analytical and organizational skills
  • Attention to accuracy, detail orientated, self-directed learning, meeting deadlines, and multi-tasking are also required

  • 10+ years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry, coal and gas fired facilities.

Desired qualifications:

Individuals who have prior experience in one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply.

  • Ability / previous experience to serve in Project Lead Engineer role for Mechanical Engineering Discipline
  • Ability to serve / previous experience in Project Manager role for projects including cost tracking, schedule tracking and client invoicing.
  • Previous experience working for an engineering consulting firm.
  • Experience with design of power plant mechanical systems, equipment, and components (e.g., circulating water systems, steam cycle, boiler feedwater systems, combustion turbine systems, compressed air systems, water and waste water treatment systems, pumping systems, piping design, process control, etc).
  • Experience with preparing procurement and design specifications for new installations as well as upgrade of existing facilities and equipment.
  • Experience with ASME B31.1 piping code
  • Experience with piping specifications development, piping supports design, and pipe stress calculations
  • Experience with NavisWorks, AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or other 3D-database driven design processes is a plus.”
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera.
