Design mechanical and electronics systems for robots

Description

The Job:
  • Collaborating with the hardware team to brainstorm and fast-pace prototype new ideas and concepts.
  • Leading junior engineers to complete full cycles of plan/execute/test in complex projects.
  • Communicating with OEMs for design feedbacks and iterations.
  • Supporting the assembly, testing, and validation of robotic prototypes and products. Instructing technicians/lab workers to optimize workload.
  • Assisting in the analysis and optimization of mechanical designs for performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Participating in design reviews and providing feedback on mechanical designs.
  • Documenting design iterations, test results, and project progress.
  • Investigating and troubleshooting issues of the robotics system. Develop and implement targeted solutions as well as documentation to reduce potential failures in future.
  • Sharing your knowledge and skills with your teammates, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and growth.

You:
  • Holds a degree in fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent. 2+ year of industry experience.
  • Mentality for fast prototyping and testing.
  • Previous experience of mechanical design, drawings (SolidWorks), GD&T, building and integration of any kind of robotic platforms. Student competition experience (Battle bot, Baja, F-SAE, etc.) is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping tools and shop equipment, including 3D printers, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as sheet-metal, weldment, machining.
  • Highly motivated teammate with excellent oral and written communication skills. Mandarin language skills is preferred.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic start-up environment as part of a small team.
  • Work on a full-time schedule at our office in Fremont.
  • Open for regular short onsite visits and for extended onsite visits during feature delivery.
