Forensic engineering is a fast-paced, dynamic and fascinating industry. The Jensen Hughes Forensics Division is a forensics engineering/consulting industry leader in fire and explosion investigations, construction defect lawsuits, piping failures, industrial failures, plumbing and HVAC failures, equipment failures, and large losses in general. Jensen Hughes has a state-of-the-art Materials Forensics laboratory in Denver, Colorado. We are looking to build a vibrant Materials Engineering Forensics Practice in Denver and we are looking for a Senior Materials Engineer to lead that effort. We are looking for a candidate that we can build a team around. The ideal candidate has more than 10 years of work experience (post degrees) and at least 5 years of experience working within forensics engineering consulting. The candidate should have experience testifying in depositions and trials. Ideally, the candidate has led Forensic Investigations of large losses, where the total loss value was more than $5M. The successful candidate is comfortable in a laboratory, in a courtroom, and on a failure scene. This individual will work within, and often lead, multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and architects consulting on a wide variety of materials science issues mostly focused on failure analysis. Proficiency in materials failure modes, fractography, and fracture mechanics is a must.
This is a highly collaborative position that interacts with engineers, technicians, managers, clients and administrative staff. From a technical perspective the position is involved with conducting hands-on failure analysis, planning and executing laboratory tests, composing written test plans, and field investigations. We are looking for an articulate, confident and professional individual who has excellent writing and verbal communication skills and experience leading and performing mechanical and materials failure analysis investigations. The individual in this position will also participate in business development and marketing activities to build the business. For the right candidate, this is a green-field opportunity to build a materials engineering forensic consulting practice with built-in access to an excellent laboratory and the support of a nationally recognized materials engineering team.
