Global Custom Commerce, Inc. (GCC) is embarking on a new adventure. Although the company remains focused on dominating the entire blinds market, an effort is underway to develop a playbook to transform our business model to take on selling complex, hard-to-buy- products as well as improving customer experience. As a result, we have created a dedicated team focused onthis effort known as the Interconnected Retail Team (IR).

This journey is exciting to us but definitely territory uncharted. We are looking for individuals who are comfortable with change, working with ambiguous situations but also willing to become pioneers to help us create a path to success. Although you will have core responsibilities defined in this job description, you will also be asked to step outside of the box to help out in other areas as needed (similar to working in a start-up company).

We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager of Development who is ready to take a leap into unknown waters. The Senior Manager of Software Development drives the rapid delivery of innovative solutions that combine the best of our existing capabilities, off-the-shelf technologies and custom code. The Senior Manager of Software Development is a proven agile leader and software engineer with the ability to recruit, retain and coach self-organizing development teams that adapt to change and continuously improve to reach extremely high levels of productivity. Although the Senior Manager of Software Development will often take a fail-cheap, fail-fast approach to POCs and other experimental solutions, the Senior Manager of Software Development ensures that mature solutions are integrated with the core business and fit into the enterprise architecture of The HomeDepot (THD).

Since merging with The Home Depot, we’ve been able to maintain our small, start-up environment, yet derive all of the enormous benefits of the world’s largest home improvement specialty retailer. Global Custom Commerce (GCC) has been honored as a Houston’s Best Place to Work and one of the Top 5 Workplaces in Texas. We’ve got an aggressive vision for 2020, which will not onlytransform interconnected retail, but also ourselves.

Why work here? Our entrepreneurial roots and maverick mentality, coupled with the resources and backing of the #1 home improvement retailer in the world, The Home Depot, is a unique opportunity for you to be a transformative retail disrupter. Plus, GCC is the world’s largest online window covering company, and we’ve got a demonstrably awesome 20-year track record. From our open-floor office to our open-door ethos, our culture is rooted in improving, evolving, and having fun (we’re pretty serious about cake, cook-offs, ping pong, meaningful work and exciting projects). Most importantly, our team members are always inspired, engaged, and ready for growth.

That means you’ll have the resources and the runway to create truly magical, out-of-the-box work. Moreover, you will play an important role in leveraging our culture, people, systems, processes, and technology — ultimately to provide incredible customer experiences, while growing business for GCC and The Home Depot. This is your chance to be part of something big, in a small start-up environment.

We’re ranked as one of The Top 5 Workplaces in Texas and have consistently won the following awards: The Best Place to Work in Houston (Houston Business Journal), Houston’s Top Workplaces (Houston Chronicle) and Houston’s Best and Brightest.
