Responsibilities: Through leadership and direct functional support, the Sr. Manager, Human Resources is responsible for applying strong well-rounded HR experience and skills to support multiple locations and/or business groups. Makes an impact on HR service delivery through innovative approaches, with focus on our most valuable asset - our people.
•Provides full cycle Human Resources support to assigned sites and business groups. Effectively handles routine and complex employee relations matters, performance management, disciplinary actions, terminations, investigations, conflict mediation, and coaching of employees and managers in a variety of situations.
•Drives or collaborates with Talent Acquisition management to deploy recruitment strategies to successfully meet staffing plans, and support organization changes and talent management needs. May perform direct recruiting functions for professional/management positions, recruitment events or support volume non-exempt activities.
•Provides functional, operational support for HR staff at all levels. Provides coverage and backup support for other locations and business groups as needed.
•Provides guidance to and supports the skill development of exempt and non-exempt HR staff. Directly or indirectly manages non-exempt and exempt HR staff.
•Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, and updating policies, procedures, methods and guidelines. Communicates and reinforces understanding and interpretation of, as well as accountability for adherence to company policies and procedures.
•Collaborates with HR management team and to contribute to the development, continuous improvement and implementation of policies, procedures, workflow, programs, and other HR initiatives. May lead or co-lead projects.
•Provides an objective HR and business perspective to managing business concerns across all levels and functions.
•Supports development and delivery of HR procedural and compliance training, and leadership development activities and training.
•Supports oversight and effective handling of leave of absence activity.
•Ensures successful completion of compliance training and other required activities of assigned locations and groups.
•Effectively uses technology for HR workflow and to support assigned groups.
•Performs other related duties as required or requested.
•Adheres to all company, departmental and client policies, procedures and requirements. Maintains clearances and licenses as required for position based upon assignment.
•Completes assigned training on time and with acceptable scores. Demonstrates understanding of training materials and applies knowledge in appropriate situations.
•Represents the company in the community, demonstrating a commitment to established vision and values. Actively promotes the company brand in business development and employee recruitment efforts.
Required Skills and Knowledge: •Proven depth and breadth of knowledge of employee relations, employment law, and other areas of HR program principles, best practices, legal and regulatory requirements to successfully drive changes as well as develop and manage programs.
•Understanding of Service Contract Act highly desired.
•Strong technical skills and competency working with various HRIS platforms (Workday experience highly desired). Intermediate skills in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
•Good understanding of basic project coordination principles and tools.
•Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
•Superior organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
•Ability to apply strong investigative and analytical skills to resolve complex issues, identify root causes and trends and develop recommendations.
•Proven ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams with employees at all levels in the organization.
•Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality with highly sensitive information with tact and diplomacy.
•Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, collaborate effectively and maintain a positive attitude in fast paced, dynamic environment.
•Ability to understand the business and its objectives to serve as an effective partner.
•Ability to lead by example and provide day-to-day functional support at all levels.
•Effective listening skills with the ability to develop and deliver compelling, persuasive directions.
Education and Experience: •Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Finance, Human Resources or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Extensive experience, generally 7 years or more, in a progressive professional Human Resources Manager position, that includes responsibility for employee relations and responsibility for policies, programs and procedures.
•Experience, generally 2 years or more, managing exempt professional HR staff.
•Experience with the application of federal and state employment and leave laws and how they work together.
•Experience providing assessment, advice, and resolution of complex employee relations matters.
Physical Requirements •Performs duties in a busy standard office environment with moderate noise level.
•Sits or stands at a desk during scheduled shift, reaching as needed to use office equipment.
•Makes and returns calls using an office phone system.
•Views a computer monitor, types on a keyboard and uses a mouse.
•Reads and comprehends information in electronic (computer) or paper form (written/printed).
•Types frequently, but not constantly, using a keyboard and mouse.
•Occasionally lifts/carries/pushes/pulls up to 10 pounds.
•Work full-time on-site and as needed to meet business needs
•Travel generally less than 10%: May require occasional overnight travel to out-of-state company locations.
