US Sales Forecasting primary function is to develop demand based sales forecasts for all products worldwide. The forecasts will be developed using internally created user models, statistical analysis, and through direct interface with Area Marketing and Sales, Operations, Finance, and WW Forecasting. The demand forecasts will drive the Plan, Update, and LBE sales, production, and capital investment planning processes. The US Demand Managers goal is to provide senior management with actionable information with respect to various demand projections, including but not limited to, monthly demand plans, long range plans, DGM market, user base, and new product launches.
Support the Director of WW Sales Forecasting and Planning in creating and driving continuous improvement of a global Class A demand planning and S&OP processes by identifying, implementing, and maintaining repeatable processes for the US.
Facilitate the process on a monthly basis to reach consensus on the updated demand between Sales, Marketing, and Finance.
Set objectives and drive efforts required to establish capabilities across the US commercial organization to adopt best practices where possible.
Lead establishment of US demand forecasts at the SKU and family level for all products while maintaining product availability to end customer at the highest possible level.
Managing finished goods inventoryinvestment to target levels.
Develop, document, update, and challenge the assumptions supporting the demand plan based on the analysis of market data, industry statistics, customer dynamics, and lifecycle strategies.
Key metrics include but are not limited to forecast accuracy, backorder avoidance, and days on hand finished goods inventory.
This position assumes the leadership role in communicating to US Senior Management issues related to product sales forecasts, assumptions, risks, opportunities, and product availability.
In coordination with Global Strategic Marketing and WW Forecasting.
Manage development of US lifecycle strategies and forecasts during product transitions including product launches, kills, conversions and transfers.
Monitor the demand plan performance throughout the month to provide detailed input to Sales and Marketing management for use in the Demand Review and S&OP meetings.
Manage the development of the cause of forecast error to ensure continuous improvement of the overall process.
Responsible for providing required Demand Review and S&OP reports as well as reports issued directly to support US Marketing, Sales, and Finance within their responsibility.
Lead development of analytical tools required to generate accurate predictions, including market growth, share, competitive position, lift/cannibalization, on market products, and new products.
Responsible for managing relationships and expectations/deliverables from Sales, Marketing, Global Strategic Marketing,
Finance, Market Research, and Worldwide Forecasting to develop Plan, Update, LBE, LRP, and PMP sales projections.
Represents US forecasting team in key cross functional decisions and processes, including short and long-term strategy discussions, product initiatives, global demand planning, sales and operations planning, and systems integration.
Bachelors’ Degree: B.S. Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Finance, or Operations Research, Masters’ Degree preferred.
Strong analytical, financial, and information systems skills are required. Leader with superior analytical skills, exceptional oral and written communication skills, and can see the big picture while paying strict attention to detail. Able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Capable of presenting forecasts to all levels of management with supporting analysis and assumptions. Strong ability to influence, must have a high level of personal credibility as a spokesperson for forecasting. Knowledge of diabetes care industry preferred. 3 to 5 years of direct experience managing forecasting activities. Strong knowledge of operations, finance, sales, and customer service functions. Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience. Understand linkage and impact between business processes and forecasting. Domestic and International interface experience. Project Managementexperience.
