SUMMARY

Business partner to the Chief Scientific Officer and Research and Development (R&D) top leadership.  This role maintains a deep understanding of our research and clinical portfolio and business activities planned to support the goals of the organization. 

This role will also lead the coordination and consolidation of total R&D functions, including clinical trials, research, regulatory, medical affairs, biometrics, clinical operations and other support functions, product development and program management.

This includes assistance with all aspects of coordination of planning calendars and team deliverables, consolidation of R&D budgets, forecasts and long range plans, management and executive reporting and support of key process improvement projects.  

In this fast-paced and high-exposure role, you will interact with senior leaders and finance teams throughout the organization to meet our deliverables.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Consolidation of R&D

  • Ownership, coordination and communication of internal calendar, key deliverables and responsibilities for all planning activities, inclusive of budget, LRP, forecast and process improvement initiatives.

  • Liaison with Corporate Finance and Accounting

  • Though leader of global R&D Finance team; work with the business and finance team to understand key business driver, help drive finance priorities and influence decision making

  • Prepare and communicate R&D financial results, including preparation of management reports, deliverables to Corporate FP&A and Sr. Executive and Board of Directors meeting materials.

  • Develop and maintain key performance metrics for analyzing business and team performance

  • Maintain and improve planning tools, reports and processes

  • Facilitate weekly R&D team meetings, including setting of agenda, facilitating the discussion and following up on action items.

R&D Business Partner

  • Work with the business to develop the annual budget, quarterly forecasts and 5-year plan

  • Build partnerships with the business and influence decisions

  • Perform analysis to inform future cost models or support decisions; this includes ad-hoc support and analysis & participation in critical business projects

  • Monthly management reporting on actuals and expected forecast

EXPERIENCE

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of financeexperience

  • Proficiency with Hyperion Planning, SmartView reporting and Microsoft Office products (Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective at communicating across all levels in the organization

  • Strong organizational skills to meet tight deadlines

  • Enjoys a challenging, fast-paced environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills; effective on teams as well as individually

  • Results driven; adaptable, flexible and creative in developing new improvement ideas and solutions

Desired Skills:

  • Previous R&D experience highly preferred

EDUCATION

  • BS in Accounting or Finance

  • Advanced degree, CPA or MBA highly preferred
