BuzzFeed is seeking a creative executive with proven experience across film/tv/digital development and production to join our Los Angeles team as Senior Manager, Development. Working with the Head of BuzzFeed Studios and the development executive team, you will identify, develop and package a range of projects from traditional long-form television to native digital series. Our Sr. Manager, Development will be extremely knowledgeable on both sides of the creative/business practice in launching projects from ideation to execution. S/he will have a strong understanding of the fundamentals of story development and production and will work closely with our external producing partners to set up and oversee projects across a range of platforms from cable television to streaming network to theatrical films.

You will:

  • Work across multiple divisions within BuzzFeed, including in-house talent, to develop valuable formats, franchises and IP
  • Oversee development and production on assigned projects, from conception through delivery, including pitch decks, story notes, hiring producers, and supervising post-production, while delivering quality content on time and within budget
  • Collaborate with internal teams and divisions to develop, negotiate and package projects to set up with external buyers and expand our content slate
  • Maintain relationships with creative community including networks, studios, talent, filmmakers, producing partners and agencies
  • Continue to develop a library of ideas that are in line with BuzzFeed’s strategic goals
  • Collaborate with other BuzzFeed divisions, including Sales & Marketing, Social and Analytics, to ensure content in development ladders up to BuzzFeed’s revenue and marketing goals
  • Closely monitor and stay abreast of content-related industry evolutions and advancements, with an eye to what’s trending next
  • Meet and/or exceed projected revenue goals for production sales

You have:

  • 7+ years’ development experience
  • A vast network of contacts across the entertainment industry with a verifiable track record of project sales
  • Experience across digital, TV and film and a strong understanding of content creation for a diverse audience across multiple platforms
  • Ability to travel to locations as needed for pre-production through post-production, to ensure successful projects from concept to delivery
  • Ability to work in small teams as well as work independently
  • A positive, curious, playful disposition (no haters)
