This role will play a critical role in providing strategic and architectural guidance on cloud adoption and enhancements in line with enterprise IT roadmap. This person will lead the engineering vision, artifacts and best practices for public/private/hybrid cloud solutions and will be the friend, philosopher and guide for our partners and stakeholders on cloud adoption and related technologies. This role manages people, process and technology and will drive cultural transformation in conjunction with GCB CTO technology alignment with enterprise IT roadmap. This person will Lead in the engineering vision, artifacts and best practices for our Cloud based PaaS, IaaS, and Shared Data platforms.

In the continuous delivery function, this person will be the cultural change agent, the custodian and the key driver in facilitating adoption of the CI/CD model and will partner with delivery managers, application and infrastructure teams, sponsors and stakeholders to manage seamless operations of all development and runtime platforms for GCB CTO.

This role has two broad functions –
A. This position sets overall global strategy and operational standardization for Consumer’s Cloud platforms. Collaborate with CATE and GCB Architecture teams to drive operational and developmental best practices for Cloud technologies and platforms
B. Oversee Continuous Delivery Engineering practice that embeds CDEs into the product development scrum teams, who will then be accountable for the availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning of their services.
Key Responsibilities related to Cloud Platform Lead:
• Provide thought leadership for Cloud technologies for Consumer business, and communicate Cloud feature availability thru well-defined roadmaps.
• Develop and promote adoption of highly scalable, well-conditioned Cloud architecture standards.
• Identify and remediate SPOF in Cloud infrastructure deployments and application design.
• Partner with agile development teams to influence application modernization and migration to cloud platforms.
• Lead business sector specific service improvement plans to address deficiencies in technology solutions and operational processes including incident, change, problems and event management.
• Collaborate with architects, engineering, client managers, project managers, applications and infrastructure teams to drive emerging technology standards to industry best practices.
• Develop relationships with key customers to identify emerging needs.

Key Responsibilities related to Continuous Delivery Engineering Practice:

• Embed CDEs into Product Development scrum teams and represent platform and infrastructure domains in release planning & execution activities.
• Partner with Product Development teams to establish “error budgets”, and aim to spend error budget to get maximum feature velocity.
• Act as primary accountable service owner for all Development & Runtime platforms.
• Ensure currency & completeness of on-call playbooks to continually improve MTTR.
• Collaborate with Release Engineering & Product Development teams to develop change management strategies – e.g. canary-style deployments, pushing out new releases without interrupting services, and rolling back features that demonstrate problems.
• Manage efficiency and performance of system resources utilized, to balance demand (load), capacity, and product service performance.

Qualifications


Knowledge/Experience:
• BS Degree in engineering, science, mathematics, information systems or computer science; or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
• At least 10 years of experience in enterprise level IT projects Cloud based technologies (PaaS, IaaS, Cloud Infrastructure Services)
• Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry or AWS or Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience with issues facing large scale server environments
• Automation, Orchestration, CI/CD, Development or DevOps background is desired.
• Experience in architecture and support best practices in Pivotal Cloud Foundry in a private cloud environment or Amazon AWS.
• Hands-on experience in open source technologies like, Docker, Git, SpringIO, NGINX, Tomcat
• Understanding of cloud application design principles such as 12 factor apps
• Broad knowledge in systems monitoring, alerting and analytics (AppDynamics, Logstash, Splunk, etc.)
Essential Skills:
• Experience in architecture and support best practices in Pivotal Cloud Foundry in a private cloud environment or Amazon AWS.
• Experience with API-M.
• Experience with micro-services.
• Experience working with additional virtualization technologies, VMware is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in open source technologies like, Docker, Git, SpringIO, NGINX, Tomcat
• Broad knowledge in systems monitoring, alerting and analytics (AppDynamics, Logstash, Splunk, etc.)
Preferred Skills
• Certification in cloud technologies
• Experience in IT transformation and/or ITIL implementation in a similar industry
• Rest API / JSON development a plus
• Understanding of cloud application design principles such as 12 factor apps
