Field-based Sr. Category Manager will work with local Sales team and US Headquarters to drive business growth with Walmart and Sam’s Club. The business mission is to achieve results that are mutually beneficial to Henkel and to our retail customers. Position reports to Team Leader of Category & Shopper Solutions, US Headquarters.

The Sr. Category Manager leads all aspects related to Category Management and Shopper/Consumer Insights. Active involvement in the selling and planning processes across core categories and delivering key insights related to sales and share metrics, industry insights, shopper behaviors and retail trends. Responsible for having integral input into the strategic planning and execution initiatives with the customer while ensuring category alignment for Henkel. Role will be actively engaged and highly visible across multiple levels of leadership both internally and externally.

What we offer

  • Lead insight development leveraging syndicated and custom data from a variety of data sources (e.g. IRI POS & Panel, Retail Link, Shiloh, custom research and consumer studies) to provide category, brand and shopper thought leadership for the customer and internal stakeholders
  • Identify and quantify 4P (Product, Placement, Promotion, Price) opportunities for the customer and internal stakeholders
  • Convert analytical facts into actionable insights and solutions
  • Lead the development of category reviews and planogram optimization recommendations to maximize customer category and Henkel sales
  • Provide insights to inform on channel and account-specific strategies and address account-specific needs from HQ
  • Strategic collaboration with other team members to sharecategory and shopper insights, analytical approaches/tools, storytelling, and best practices to achieve category and customer objectives
  • Partner with Sales team on customer presentation development by identifying category and Henkel opportunities at the account
  • Build customer relationship and drive partnership opportunities leading to mutual sales growth
  • Implement and localize Henkel national strategies at the customer-level
  • Develop and deploy consistent category sales reports with actionable insights utilizing both internal and syndicated data sources
  • Monitor and track competitive activity, new item performance and promotional effectiveness

Who we are looking for

  • B.S. or B.A. degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Category Management within Consumer Packaged Goods industry with manufacturer or syndicated data supplier
  • Mastery of syndicated POS and household panel data systems and ability to translate data into insight-based recommendations
  • Proficiency in creating and delivering presentations at different organizational levels
  • Ability to influence people and decision makers across all levels of the organization
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and proficiency using Space Management applications like JDA
  • Strong proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
