In the Sr. HR Manager position, you will provide end-to-end human resources support for Seattle Genetics' IT and Global Quality departments. Both of these departments are evolving and scaling to support company growth. Both departments must also work effectively across various teams within the Technical Operations Division, within Seattle Genetics globally, and with external partners to realize impact. You will partner primarily with senior leaders, people managers, and HR colleagues, to diagnose, develop, implement, and sustain efforts to enhance organization and talent capability. You will also serve a champion for the employee experience. As well, you will serve as a 'one HR' team member, supporting our HR Function in its own journey to evolve in ways that best support a growing global organization.


  • Understand the business context and can apply that knowledge and insight in the context of HR activity to improve business performance
  • Actively manage delivery of HR services, policies, processes, and programs to IT and Global Quality departments
  • Coach and counsel leaders and people managers through insight, constructive feedback and challenge, delivered in a trustful way to enable them to be most effective
  • Increase capability of line leaders to manage and develop employees through rapport, diagnosis of issues, and identifying solutions
  • Specifically, develop people managers' ability to recruit, manage, develop, and retain diverse talent
  • Lead and drive the efficient delivery of diverse change projects in IT and Global Quality, in support of Seattle Genetics' strategic agenda while also supporting a culture of empowerment
  • Leverage business insight, systems-thinking, and validated processes & techniques to effectively partner with IT and Global Quality leaders & HR team members on organization design, organization development, workforce planning, succession and talent planning
  • Is able to help the business differentiate and reward & recognize individuals or teams commensurate with their value to the business and their contribution
  • Use data and analytical tools to understand the business to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Consult with managers on employee performance and development opportunities. Ensures inappropriate behaviors are dealt with in a direct, challenging, tough-minded manner
  • Can conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required
  • Have insight into what people are really feeling and uses this to develop appropriate engagement strategies
  • Use business insight to diagnose present and future capability gaps and a plan to address those. E.g. As applicable, identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs
  • Are collectively responsible for the reputation of human resources


  • Five-nine years' experience; at least three years as an HR business partner with experience aligning HR strategies to evolving business needs
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience assessing management and executive talent
  • Experience designing and driving organizational change initiatives
  • Exceptional listening skills and ability to relate to, influence, and coach employees and of all levels
  • Exposure to working in a global organization with a matrix structure and multiple lines of authority leveraging influence within a network of stakeholders
  • Experience partnering effectively with HR Centers of Excellence (e.g. Recruitment, Total Rewards, Operations, etc.)


  • Bachelor's degree and relevant industry experience
  • MBA or Masters in Human Resources, Org Development, or similar
