Job Description

OVERVIEW

Join the Snacks Operating Unit and provide finance and commercial leadership as a business unit finance guidance analyst. The Snacks Operating Unit is home to some of the most strategically important categories within General Mills and is nearing $4 billion of sales. The operating unit consists of large, iconic brands such as Nature Valley, Totino’s, and Larabar as well as “start-up” style emerging brands such as Ratio, and EPIC.

Our business has undergone a transformation over the last few years, leveraging an omnichannel growth strategy, brand building, and Stategic Revenue Management (SRM) to compete more effectively in the marketplace. The business has been delivering significant top and bottom-line growth in past years by living its mission to make the food people need and love. We are looking for an outstanding finance partner to continue this legacy.

Due to recent internal movement, three (3) Senior Financial Analyst positions on the team are open. One role supports our Nature Valley business, one role supports our remaining bar category brands (such as Lärabar, EPIC, and Cereal Treat Bars), and the final role supports our Totino’s business. Preference for which role is of most interest will be discussed during the interview phase. Job responsibilities across both roles are roughly the same except for brand team support.

In this role you will gain experience developing and executing brand strategies to deliver against the Operating Unit’s objectives and win in the marketplace. You will operate as the CFO of your respective brands, partnering with brand management and cross-functional partners to deliver on brand strategies, balance the business model, and achieve operational targets. You will proactively support the business with leadership on product innovation, pricing/SRM strategy, scenario planning, and much more.

In addition to your cross-functional team support, you will be a key member of the Snacks finance team supporting our critical PEAK processes (Integrated Business Planning) and financial estimate cycles (such as the monthly estimate, Long Range Planning (LRP), and Annual Budget Planning).

Experience in this role will strengthen an individual’s skills in the following key areas: commercial & financial acumen, strategic business model leadership, situational agility, and partnership for impact.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Strategically partner with cross-functional teams on innovation projects from charter stage to product launch, providing financial leadership and estimates as the teams navigate our Launch to Win process
  • Partner with trade and customer finance on customer investment opportunities that deliver against strategic objectives
  • Provide insightful financial modeling and return on investment analysis that drives decisions to achieve business results. Examples include consumer investment decisions, SRM / HMM actions, or portfolio optimization proposals.
  • Bring thought leadership and an objective perspective to influence and shape business direction. This includes providing a balanced perspective in such forums as BU Demand Reviews, innovation reviews, and ideation sessions regarding future SRM or HMM actions.
  • Deliver financial targets, including assessing performance against plan, taking action to close gaps and actively pursuing opportunities throughout the fiscal year
  • Support the monthly financial forecast and annual financial planning processes, including the identification of business performance drivers and risks and opportunities. At Spring Plan this also includes volume planning support, Net Sales builds, and ensuring that all innovation is appropriately accounted for.
  • Support a variety of key BU meetings, such as BU MBR, Innovation reviews, and our BU wide monthly huddle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Ability to proactively manage multiple stakeholders in a dynamic environment (Operating Expertise & Commercial Acumen)
  • High learning agility and ability to adapt as business situations evolve (Situational Agility)
  • Strong bias for action including ability to work autonomously and actively problem solve (Partnership for Impact)
  • Ability to synthesize data and provide accurate, meaningful analysis to influence business decisions (Data Based Decision-Making)
  • Track record of strong analytical skills and attention to detail (Financial Acumen)
  • Intellectual curiosity and strong desire to learn
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, most notably Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of GMI Finance Systems (Hyperion, SAP, AFO, Tableau)
  • Previous experience with Nielsen Connect
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with P&L modeling along with forecasting, leveraging the PEAK process
  • Experience working on a cross-functional team

  • We are open to 100% remote candidates with travel based on business needs.
  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $77900.00 - $117000.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifictions, etc. As such, pay for the succesful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
