Summary: Logistics/distribution costs account for about 25% of Compass Minerals' gross sales. During the winter season, we frequently experience surges in sales during periods of inclement weather. As a result, it's important that we have visibility into our backlog of orders, have sufficient resource capacity, fully understand our spending, make sound decisions when choosing carriers and distribution facilities, and identify cost savings / avoidance opportunities. This position is responsible for monitoring andreporting logistics financial performance metrics against benchmarks, maintaining KPI's, assisting with profitability analyses to drive prudent decision making and ultimately help update financial forecasts.
The Senior Logistics Analyst will work closely with the Logistics Team to provide analytical support to make prudent financial business decisions. They will be the power user and trainer for core analytics utilizing Oracle Business Intelligence tools and Enterprise One to synthesize large amounts of data into meaningful reports and KPIs. Such analyses will provide financial metrics to allow the team to understand year over cost changes, project fuel costs, and provide various other day to day support.
As the Finance support for the Logistics team, this position will be responsible for coordinating with the team to provide all forecasted logistics-related spending including freight rates, fuel surcharges, handling, railcar fleet management and other period costs including warehousing/depot costs. This role will prepare and report monthly an analysis of spending variances against benchmarks to enable management to understand drivers and reasons for differences from expected spending and formulate expectations for future costs.
The role will support all businesses and will interact frequently with Finance, Sales and Logistics.

Education, Experience, PC Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Data Analytics with a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant work experience, preferably with a logistics provider or logistics focus.
- Prefer experience with Oracle Business Intelligence tools and JD Edwards Enterprise One.
- Advanced competency in Excel. Prefer moderate to advanced competency in Microsoft access.
