Job Description:

LORD Sensing is seeking a Field Applications Engineer to join our wireless instrumentation team. This is a unique opportunity for a mid-level engineer to join a highly talented team that is developing industry leading industrial process applications, robotics, autonomous vehicles, and condition monitoring. The position involves implementing and testing real-world solutions using our wireless instrumentation products in customer and in-house applications. The successful candidate will be expected to research, identify and implement solutions and communicate these solutions to engineers embedding our sensors and sensing stems into in their products. He/she must be an experienced systems engineer with a strong foundation in understanding of electronics, wireless communications and electrical troubleshooting. The successful candidate will provide individual technical contribution and perform as a key member of a team that supports the design, development, test, and integration of complex, hardware/software systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Resident expert on interfacing and optimizing wireless instrumentation products in a variety of applications
  • Identification and resolution of customer issues
  • Providing the customer with the appropriate communication and involving appropriate Service and Sales Personnel
  • Defines problems: Collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions. Has the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables
  • Support sales on application specific jobs and product information
  • Responsible to provide technical guidance, installation supervision, commissioning support, and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Delivers remote and face-to-face technical support, development of product and service documentation, and assistance with new software testing
  • Travel (domestic and international) to customer sites and collaborate with customer engineers to help them integrate our products into their application



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering field
  • 5 years of related instrumentation experience with strain gauges, vibration sensors, load cells and pressure sensors
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to nurture creativeness within a team environment

Desirable Skills and experience

  • Additional academics in robotics, AI, or autonomous vehicles
  • Programming experience with LabVIEW, C++, Python, and MATLAB
  • Experience with wired and wireless communication protocols including; USB, RS-232/422, CAN, TCP, Bluetooth, and 802.15.4
  • Strong math background
  • Experience in wireless communications and RF principles
  • Drone experience
  • Experience with using IMUs, AHRS, and GNSS/INS
  • Robotics experience
  • Subversion
  • PLM system such as Arena, Aras, or Omnify
  • CRM system
