Job Description:

LORD Sensing is seeking a Sr. Field Applications Engineer to join our Inertial Sensors team. This is a unique opportunity for a mid-level engineer to join a highly talented team that is developing industry leading miniature inertial sensors for industrial process applications, robotics, autonomous vehicles, and drones. The position involves implementing and testing real-world solutions using our inertial products in customer and in-house applications. The successful candidate will be expected to research, identify and implement solutions and communicate these solutions to engineers embedding our inertial sensors in their products. He/she must be an experienced systems engineer with a strong foundation in understanding of electronics and electrical troubleshooting. The successful candidate will provide individual technical contribution and perform as a key member of a team that supportsthe design, development, test, and integration of complex, inertial hardware/software systems.

This position is responsible for helping our customers integrate our Inertial Sensors into their application. The incumbent will be a bridge between the sales/marketing/Support Team and hardware and systems engineering team. In addition, the incumbent will assist with the design, test, and verification of existing and prototype inertial products.

Job Responsibilities

  • Resident expert on interfacing and optimizing inertial products in a variety of applications.
  • Working with hardware and software teams to develop, test, and verify new and existing inertial products.
  • Travel (domestic and international) to customer sites and collaborate with customer engineers to help them integrate our products into their application.

Competencies Required

  • 5 years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering field
  • Experience working with LabVIEW, C++, Python, and MATLAB.
  • Experience using RS-232/422, USB, and CAN interfaces in datalogging and feedback systems.
  • Experience with using IMUs, AHRS, and GNSS/INS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to nurture creativeness within a team environment

Desirable Skills and experience

  • Additional academics in robotics, AI, or autonomous vehicles.
  • Strong math background – especially linear algebra.
