A.  Primary Purpose of Job:

The Senior Network Engineer position is responsible effectively leading the design and implementation of network solutions for QuikTrip. This position needs to intently focus on prioritization and always seek improvement of processes and tools.  It requires constant problem-solving and will need to make sure that monitoring and uptime are treated as importantly as the original deployment.  This position is heavily reliant on teamwork.

  1. Effectively implement networkinfrastructure solutions as part of a delivery team.

    1. Lead, Plan, design, implement network designs at a high-quality level in waterfall or agile projects with Senior Network staff.

    2. Lead the Design of processes for provisioning, maintenance and monitoring of solutions designed for minimal impact to operations teams.

    3. Ensure designs meet industry best practices, standards, and any security and compliance requirements at QuikTrip.

    4. Work with3rd parties to maximize project success when needed.

    5. Effectively document support methods and tasks for transition to operations teams.

    6. Maintain accuracy of impacted network diagrams during projects.

      • 70% of total job

 

  1. Lead operational support of escalated Level 3network problems.

    1. Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex problems to meet business needs.

    2. Liaison between vendors, and customers to ensure timely resolution of issues and keeping stakeholders informed.

    3. Seize opportunities to automate tasks to reduce failure for the future.

    4. Maintain knowledge of what support issues are most common for the network and work with operations teams to maximize the use of automation to reduce support costs.

      • 15% of total job

 

  1. Drive QuikTrip technology forward.

 

    1. Maintain technical competence and relevance on existing and emerging network and automation technologies.

    2. Conceive, define, develop and deploy tools/processes which automate the network to produce higher business value.

      • 10% of total job

  1. General and Other duties as assigned.

    1. Perform administrative tasks as required by QuikTrip policy or as assigned.

    2. Maintain confidentiality regarding the information being processed, stored or assessed by any network tools or during any troubleshooting procedures.

      • 5% of total job

            Reports to: I/T Infrastructure Lead

  

D.  Relationships

Inside the Company: All Information Technology personnel and a high                                                                             percentage of other department personnel.

 Outside the Company: Hardware and software vendors, 3rd party professional services and consulting networks

 

E.  Position Specifications

  1. Required Education:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.  Cisco CCNA certification.

  1. Desired Education: Bachelor’s degree in MIS or CIS.  Cisco CCDA or CCNP certification.

 

  1. Required experience:6– 8years networkengineeringexperience in large, complex

    network environments. High level knowledge of Cisco and switches, routing and switching protocols and Cisco PRIME.

    Strong understanding of load balancing systems and DNS.

  1. Desired experience:8+ Years networkengineeringexperience in large, complex network environments. 2+ Years of Citrix Netscaler knowledge. 2+ years’ experience with Solarwinds Orion, InfoBlox, and Riverbed. 2+ years’ experience with Splunk,

 

  1. Required Skills:                 

    Must have strong written and oral communication skills.

    Must be able to lead initiatives and work without direct supervision. Must be able to thrive in a team environment and constantly seek out ways to help others be successful. Ever-expanding knowledge of networking concepts and components and tech trends. Must seek simplicity first even if more work is needed to achieve that.
